"I came here on break time and order a burrito, but sure isn’t very authentic style. However, my father had ordered some fajitas and was given quesadillas w/ cheese. Him on the other hand cannot eat cheese. He didn’t mind the order being wrong, but just wanted his fajitas. Yet, they didn’t comp the order and gave him his money back. Remind you he hasn’t ate an inch of the quesadillas or any bit. Then on top of that he still wanted his fajitas and was charged still as a new order. One would have thought they would have just ask the price difference, but was being charged the full price. This is bad customer service and sure isn’t the most knowledgeable place to understand the customer and mistakes that were made. This should have been an easy fix. Yet, was made so difficult! This is coming for a person of experience on working with customer daily."

This place serves some of the best tacos you'll ever taste, and the prices are quite reasonable!

I ordered nachos without meat, but they came with just a teaspoon of rice, a teaspoon of beans, and were overwhelmed with sour cream.

I came here specifically for the corn elote, and my daughter absolutely loved it! I'm definitely planning to try some other dishes next!

This is a fantastic spot! I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food. I'm definitely going back for more. It's a cozy neighborhood restaurant, but you really should give it a try! View menu

Walked in quite a few folks I knew it must of been good and very reasonable. I had a delicious shrimp tostado loaded with shrimp and a cod taco appeared to be a whole filet. Really tasty. The cashier was very friendly.

I ordered the King Kong steak burrito and was quite disappointed. The rice was overly spicy, and despite requesting extra meat, it felt like I received more onions and rice instead. On the DoorDash app, extra meat costs $4.00, but my receipt from the restaurant showed a $6.00 charge for the same. I think I’ll be sticking with Pepe's from now on.

The food was disappointing – dry and lacking flavor, with poor quality overall. The steak tacos were excessively fatty, while the pastor was mushy and overly salty. It seems that whoever manages this place either doesn’t take pride in making authentic tacos or lacks professional cooking skills. I’d prefer to eat at El Famous Burrito rather than return here. Additionally, it was extremely hot and uncomfortable inside. View menu

This is an interesting place. Atmosphere-wise they seem to want to be Taco Bell fast food. However, the menu is huge and they make items with a lot of love. She had chilaquiles with an egg over easy and enjoyed it. I had the biggest burrito in the last three years and also enjoyed it. The main improvement would be more staff (they are hiring). From the outside the place seems like fast food mediocrity: just another place. But don't write them off.

I decided to get a burrito here a few days ago. I ordered a beef burrito and it was awful for lack of a better word. It was very dry and completely tasteless. I also ordered a side of Pico de gallo and it was sour. I was so disappointed. A complete waste of time and gas.I wouldn’t recommend this place to ANYONE! Don’t even get me started on the young dumb cashier. Oh let me not forget that my order was messed up. This place needs to be closed down ASAP!!!!

"If there is a restaurant that is a Birmingham institution among the wealthier crowd, there is literally only one name that locals would bring up, and it is undoubtedly Highlands. Not that there aren't other nice restaurants, but this spot has proven itself over time and is ran by a chef that most Alabamians are quite proud of. Opened in 1982, Highland's is a place that put Birmingham on the map in a positive way at a time when the post industrial iron period was about to wind down and transform the city. Frank formalized his cooking techniques by working in kitchens of San Francisco and France, creating a medley of American Southern and French cuisine that is difficult to find elsewhere. It was not a time when it was common to see a chef from Alabama going to study cooking in Europe, thus the story was already an anomaly. Frank Stitt was trying to pioneer sustainable agriculture and farming well before anybody in Alabama knew what in the world that actually meant or for that matter, cared. One of the signature items is the baked grits that has been around since the restaurant opened. It's a tasty grits preparation and without a doubt, something to try. The pheasant was spectacular, fairly lean and with a crispy delicious skin, served with grits and green beans. Pastries here are created by Dolester Miles, who has been in the job for well over 30 years. The opera cake is absolutely spectacular, gentle and complexly layered. The basque cake is peachy and moist, with a crispy delicious exterior and Chantilly cream. Not only are these likely the best desserts to discover in Alabama, but may be some of the best to be found in America. The attentiveness got derail was clearly evident. As far as service, generally fine, but not particularly attentive. The waitress did not seem in much of a mood to welcome people to the establishment. Many items on the menu were running out by 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Nobody was particularly impressed with the flounder that got substituted for the grouper. And then there are other questions, why would you run out of grits? They know they are always filled to capacity and ingredients to make grits are not immediately perishable. Highland's has by this point in Birmingham's history become a classic. It's evident that most people here have been around for decades working at their jobs and serving the rich crowds of Mountain Brook. It's a place of great food and shows many combinations of ingredients that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere, let alone be executed this well."
