"Intense First and ongoing impressions: literally find yourself pressed on a sole intense, unchangeable, unenigmatic eye presence found in visages of diners, waitpersons, children, nearly everyone, i.e. all within one—one—and each single Zyara dining room table. Window above the large back area aka “garden” dining room: early June evening completely bathes everyone and everything in light. Mixed styles, distinctive clothes contain and present each body, all ages; efficient eye-to-eye uni-form intra table gazing. Zyara’s cooking artists evolve tasty, well-designed, appealing, delicious dishes. For us these include pitas, appealing fresh salad, distinctive baba ghanoush, falafel, Turkish eggplant, zhug, and, most flavorful, Tahini. The food welcomes and pleases all eaters at all tables. Intense eater-to-eater interactive ocular experience permeates each table’s eating and intra- table eying space, never eluding or leaping beyond fellow table persons’ eyes. How does the intensity evolve? Where does the intensity originate? What births it? What sustains or nurtures it? What? What! zyararestaurantnyc.com 25-53 Steinway St Astoria, NY 11103 Phone number (718) 777-7753"

Food is delicious! Best chicken shawarma in NYC. Try their laffa chicken shawarma wrap!! Service is a bit slow because it's always busy whenever you go so make sure to order ahead of time. Not much seating for indoor dining. Slightly pricy.Food: 5/5

Food tasted good. But complete ripoff. e.g. You have to pay extra $8 if you share you food tray?!! For what reason would i give a restaurant money to do whatever with my food?!!And the loud Music??‍ . I took someone there seeing a halal restaurant but was so embarrassed by their music. FYI music is prohibited in islam. View menu

I had expectations but most of them were not met. The atmosphere is good, service was good. the food didnt taste that good, it was bland and no flavor. (i got the beef shawarma). also if you're planning on sitting and eating at the restaurant, don't because they charge automatic two fees and its hella expensive. you should get it to take out and eat it and they usually take a very long time to make the food.

I picked up a To Good to To Go order last night and when I arrived the owner rudely told me I 'm deleting that app and then turned to the kitchen staff and loudly told them NO MEAT for To Good To Go orders, only salad and falafel . I 'm not sure why he reacted that way to a customer buying food from his restaurant on an app he signed up for, but it made me feel unwelcome. There are plenty of other Mediterranean restaurants in the neighborhood that treat people better than this one. The food was OK

The interior of the restaurant feels a bit cramped for an immersive experience, though they do have a larger outdoor area. Their chicken Shawarma is likely the best I've had in NYC. I do get the sense that the staff tends to rush you out, but honestly, the food is so delicious that it overshadows this minor issue. I've been several times and would definitely return. Highly recommended! Just a tip: the food takes a while to prepare, so it's best to order ahead or arrive with plenty of time to spare. View menu

I went to Zayara for a while and I can't believe I didn't write a review for her. I love, love, love her falafel supreme sandwich. The best Falafel sandwich in New York. Yeah, it's not my best falafel of my life, that was in Riad, but if you're looking for the best in New York, you can't beat Zyara. They also do good Shawarma sandwiches and plates. However, I must emphasize that when you sit for lunch or dinner, the presentation of the posters improves the taste 10 fold compared to a pickup from them.

Delicious food and excellent service! It can be quite challenging to secure a table on a Saturday night. I highly recommend the mixed grill plate, which features fantastic chicken shawarma and tender lamb kebab. The grilled chicken is exceptionally flavorful and juicy. The prices are reasonable given the quality and generous portions you receive. The restaurant is quite small, with just six tables, but you will be impressed by the effort that goes into preparing and cooking the food in such a compact kitchen, where everything is made fresh in front of you. There’s also a touchscreen menu at the front for those who prefer takeout, making it a convenient option for anyone who doesn’t want to d...
