"After a trip to the beach, the 5 adults and 2 puppies in our group decided to relax over a late lunch. We picked The Washout because it had a parking lot. After parking, we got a picnic table outside (because of the 2 puppies). We ordered calamari and 2 bowls of she crab soup as appetizers, and both were scrumptious. Several in our group thought the she crab soup was the best they'd had at any Charleston restaurant and would now get it from The Washout on future visits. Everyone got something different, and each person was very happy with their selection, though the lobster grilled cheese seemed to be the overall best pick. Our server was excellent. She brought us water and bowls for the pups, lemons for our waters, checked back often, asked how to handle the check, and addressed all of our needs except she wasn't able to get the outdoor heater working. Fortunately, we all had jackets and were sitting in the sun. The only thing that would have improved our experience was if the heater was working. Other than that, the service was excellent, the food was superb, and the convenience of close, no-cost parking makes The Washout the best restaurant on Folly that serves seafood dishes, especially if you have a larger group and multiple vehicles."
