"Well now, if ever there was a place that reminded me of the warmth and comfort of home, it’s this lovely little spot in Van Alstyne called Myth and Ember Coffee House. As a traveler who knows a thing or two about the value of good food, drink, and the company of kind folks, I must say that this place has it all. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with a smell so delightful, it made me think of the finest gardens in the Shire on a crisp autumn morning. The air was filled with the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, mingling with the scent of warm pastries and the faintest hint of something sweet and spiced, like the apple tarts my old Gaffer used to make. The folks here at Myth and Ember know their craft well, I’ll say that. The coffee was rich and full-bodied, with just the right balance of strength and smoothness—a brew to rival the finest of them all. I took my time to savor every sip, letting the warmth spread through me like a comforting fire on a chilly night. And it’s not just the coffee that’s worth writing home about. The pastries and treats are made with the kind of care and attention to detail that you don’t often find outside of Hobbiton. The scones were as light and fluffy as a cloud over the Green Hills, and the muffins were bursting with flavor, each one a little treasure in its own right. But what really makes Myth and Ember special is the atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a good, long chat with an old friend, or just sit quietly with a book, letting the world outside drift away like a far-off dream. The décor is warm and inviting, with touches of whimsy that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook. There’s a sense of history and magic in the air, like the tales of old that Mr. Bilbo used to tell by the fireside. The staff here are as friendly as anyone could wish for—always ready with a smile and a kind word, and quick to make sure your cup is never empty. They’ve created a space that feels like a second home, a place where anyone can come and feel welcome, whether you’re a weary traveler passing through or a local looking for a quiet corner to enjoy your day. All in all, Myth and Ember Coffee House is a true gem, a place where the simple joys of life are celebrated in every cup and every bite. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel glad to be alive, and that’s about the highest praise I can give. If you ever find yourself in Van Alstyne, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won’t be disappointed, I promise you that."

"On August 30, 2023 at approximately 4:18 PM I arrived at Sonic in Van Alstyne. I placed an order for a Route 44 Dr. Pepper, corn dog and a soft pretzel. It was moderately busy at this location and I noticed there was only one car hop and she was working very hard. I waited patiently approximately 15 to 20 minutes for my order and when the lone car hop came to my window I told her she was working hard and needed a raise in pay. She took offense because she informed me that she was the general manager. Anyways I got my order and drove off. Got about 3 minutes and realized I didn’t get my corn dog. Almost didn’t want to go back for it but I did. I went to the front door and a nice gentleman got me my corn dog. Then general manager came up to my window and asked me what I was doing back there and I told her why. She was looking at me like I did something wrong. Then the owner gets out of his truck and tells a customer next to me that he is going to be the last customer of the day. Long story short I got to see the owners operate and I’m not impressed. You made feel like I was doing something wrong by returning to get what I paid for. And I didn’t like the way the owner was talking to customer next to me. I’ve been to a lot of sonic’s in my lifetime and I never seen owners acting so strange at a sonic. It’s there business and they can do what they want but SMH. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"
