"We ordered Honey Garlic Fried Chicken and tteokbokki. The chicken was just okay; it was somewhat bland compared to what I've had at other Korean places. However, the tteokbokki was fantastic—the sauce struck a perfect balance of spicy and sweet, and the addition of fish cakes was delightful. On the downside, the service left much to be desired. Water was self-serve, and we didn’t receive much attention from the staff. The woman who served us, presumably the owner, sat at a nearby table watching TV instead of checking on the customers. I noticed her attitude seemed to brighten when a group of older Korean patrons arrived, which felt a bit off-putting. On a positive note, the portion sizes were generous enough for my sister and me to take leftovers home.
My second visit was specifically for tteokbokki with my husband and daughter. Google listed the opening time as 2 PM, so we sat in the car until the opening sign turned on. By 2:15, it was still off, so I decided to call. The owner answered and confirmed they were open before abruptly hanging up. When we entered, we stood at the front waiting for someone to welcome us; the owner merely gestured for us to sit without even a greeting or a smile, and she appeared annoyed by our presence.
Once seated, we waited for her to come over, and when she did, she scolded my toddler for tapping chopsticks on her plate, expressing concern for her safety. I understood her worry, but my daughter was being gentle, so I found it a bit excessive. When we were ready to order, the owner came over and asked, "What do you want?" which made us feel awkward. We ordered soy garlic chicken and the tteokbokki again. The chicken was delicious, crispy, and flavorful, while the tteokbokki was as good as before, though the portion was smaller than my first visit.
Unfortunately, the service was even worse than during my initial experience. It was apparent that she was much friendlier and more attentive to her Korean customers. If the service were significantly improved, I could see this becoming a go-to Korean spot for me. Sadly, the unwelcoming atmosphere has left me with a negative impression."
