"Rabbit House Omakase Sake Bar is a cozy Japanese joint in the LES featuring a unique omakase experience with sake pairings. Two of my favorite things. It is a tiny venue with a single chef running the show assisted by one waittress/hostess. I'm impressed that they kept the show running smoothly but for that reason do expect a slower meal ours took ~3 hours). I like the counter seating but there are also a few regular tables making it a nice spot for a date night or an intimate dinner with a friend. For the food, they have an a la carte bar snack menu and an omakase option $80 regular, $120 premium). We opted for the premium option that had menu substitutes including fatty tuna, king salmon, lamb, and wagyu beef. There's also a fun sake pairing $46 for 6 kinds) or you can order sake flights as we did. The dishes were very unique. Our favorite dishes were the edamame tofu, king salmon carpaccio, the lamb and the homemade Orecchiette pasta. Each of these dishes was really interesting and flavorful. We were especially impressed by the texture and complexity of the edamame tofu which paired beautifully with the uni. The only dishes I didn't love included the fatty tuna which had a salty marinade and the wagyu which was chewy and fatty. The rest of the dishes however were spot on! Overall, I really enjoyed the meal. It's certainly a departure from the traditional omakase but is a unique dining experience and worth a stop!"

"My wife and I wanted a nice laid-back place to sit outside and enjoy a fun dinner. We ended up being very disappointed by the service. Our server took about 10-15 minutes to get to the table (which feels like an eternity when you are waiting to order beverages). They took our drink order and quickly returned with a cocktail and waters but the beer we ordered was delayed by a few minutes. Not a big deal, but then the night went south. We didn't see our server again for a very long time. We started to feel like our appetizer was a little delayed when food runners showed up with our entrees. No app in sight. We let them know and eventually the server brought our app. But we were halfway into the meal by that point. The food tasted fine. Nothing extraordinary but not bad. The nachos, I admit, were delicious. The mac and cheese we ordered was described to have bread crumbs but was missing that. Fortunately the server had it taken care of pretty quickly. We were never asked about having our drinks refilled. And after eating, we waited a long time for our check. It just seemed to take forever for everything. None of the problems by themselves would have been a big deal, but together it added up to a somewhat unpleasant experience. The server was nice and apologetic. They also comped us the appetizer which was nice. May have been an off night or maybe a new server, but I can't say I would recommend going on a Saturday night. Also, we did enjoy the outdoor seating area. It was a little tight, but the ambiance was nice."
