"Rabbit House Omakase Sake Bar is a cozy Japanese joint in the LES featuring a unique omakase experience with sake pairings. Two of my favorite things. It is a tiny venue with a single chef running the show assisted by one waittress/hostess. I'm impressed that they kept the show running smoothly but for that reason do expect a slower meal ours took ~3 hours). I like the counter seating but there are also a few regular tables making it a nice spot for a date night or an intimate dinner with a friend. For the food, they have an a la carte bar snack menu and an omakase option $80 regular, $120 premium). We opted for the premium option that had menu substitutes including fatty tuna, king salmon, lamb, and wagyu beef. There's also a fun sake pairing $46 for 6 kinds) or you can order sake flights as we did. The dishes were very unique. Our favorite dishes were the edamame tofu, king salmon carpaccio, the lamb and the homemade Orecchiette pasta. Each of these dishes was really interesting and flavorful. We were especially impressed by the texture and complexity of the edamame tofu which paired beautifully with the uni. The only dishes I didn't love included the fatty tuna which had a salty marinade and the wagyu which was chewy and fatty. The rest of the dishes however were spot on! Overall, I really enjoyed the meal. It's certainly a departure from the traditional omakase but is a unique dining experience and worth a stop!"

The 6 course omakase is definitely an experience for the adventurous type. With it's delicate and Japanese eclectic taste and blend of western techniques. It is definitely not for those looking for traditional flavors or recognizable Japanese dishes. Each course was given a different variety of sake for pairing. Definitely a good date place for the intimate experience.

Hubs and I got the omakase. T'was not great. Mediocre in fact. But the sake selections were good. Maybe if we'd ordered ala carte it would've been different. the app trio: the rice in the DIY handroll seemed overcooked. as was the egg. foie gras was delish but the crostini it was served with was stale sake-steamed cod was overcooked rabbit in caul fat was delish duck breast--delish! the rice it's served with was tasty. Dessert was a choc cake--it was quite bad. Very dry.

Rabbit house is a small omakase place tucked inside a small shell. Unassuming from the outside, this smaller place has maybe around 10-15 seats. Some tables for groups, some spots at the counter. We were seated at the bar for the prefixed menu. The selection was very good giving a feeling of authenticity with some modern flare. The menu changes so I won't bore you with comments on specific dishes. Make sure you get the sake pairing if that's your thing! Just like any wine pairing (done well), the sake paired very well with each dish. My only desire was to have a little more sushi in the omakase, but a traditional omakase sushi would be a better choice for that. View menu

I'm between 4-5 stars but I'm feeling nice today. Upon walking in you're surrounded by all things rabbits, even down to the folding of the cloth napkin and plate. I found a deal on TravelZoo that just couldn't be beat- $80 for two for omakase. There are so many other deals here if you check in (must let them know 24 hours before to use) and for your birthday. Now onto the food, we did expect typical omakase with difference pieces of sushi but it was actually small dishes like in the photos. All of the dishes were specifically curated and beyond decadent and delicious! The menu changes often but I would have liked to see one piece of sushi at least. Service was great, but again different from...

Looks can be deceiving. The food looked great...but really it was questionable...and the service was absolutely terrible. Honestly if I didn 't drink almost a whole bottle of sake. I would have disputed paying almost 300 hundred bucks for this place (200 for the meals almost $100 for sake and tip) They also add tip...which I wouldn 't have given him the amount he was asking considering the service was terrible. The original menu that we thought we were having...was not what we were having...we asked for the menu..we got a NO from the waiter. Excuse me? The server was terrible...he had no idea what he was serving us...he pretty much gave us the plate and expected to know what it was...and whe...

SUCH a cute, unique, and tasty experience. We called ahead because it was my friend's birthday and they do a free birthday omakase if you make a reservation (typically $80). We added on the sake pairing for $45, which includes generous pours of 6 different types of sake. The restaurant is run by the owner, chef, and waiter bartender Yoshiko Sakuma, a super nice and talented lady who chatted with us as we ate and taught us a lot about all the sake we drank. All the courses were so unique and beautifully presented you can see (and taste) all the technical work that went into each one. While the signature dish is the trapped rabbit, I think my favorite had to have been the duck breast with shii... View menu

We came in on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. We sat at the counter and Chef Yoshiko explained that she did not have any help that day and she was doing everything on her own so we knew that things might take a bit longer. It was impressive to see how she was able to serve everyone and keep track of courses for the different tables all on her own. You have the option to order from the menu a la carte or do the omakase regular for $80 or the premium for $120. We looked over the differences in both omakase options and I decided to go with the regular since I really wanted the Rabbit which is substituted for lamb in the premium option. I was able to try the premium option a...

Truly a hidden gem! In addition to the amazing food, the restaurant was very well decorated. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the exclusive private dining feel to the meal. Chef Yoshiko hand serves every single dish to our table. She told us that it was her dream to open a small restaurant of her own where diners would feel like they are having a private dinner! A must visit for anyone living or visiting NYC! Menus tried (in order of my favorite): 1) Seasonal Rice (duck breast with ginger sauce over chestnut rice) the rice was so addicting and the duck breast was very well cooked, definitely a dish I want to try recreating 2) Seasonal Rabbit (rabbit and Cornish hen Japanese stew)...
