"To my surprise, instead of showing understanding, the employee began to criticize my son. I politely intervened, stating that as his mother, I was open to discussing any necessary corrections in a constructive way. I was taken aback when the employee insisted I should stop speaking negatively about her colleague. I attempted to clarify that I wasn’t blaming anyone, but rather acknowledging that everyone has bad days.
It quickly became clear that trying to address their growing frustration towards us as customers was futile. The whole situation was embarrassing, especially with the store being busy and many patrons witnessing the confrontation. We eventually decided to leave in search of a more positive environment and have not returned since.
I understand that staff shortages can be challenging, but I genuinely believe that a large company like Maverik should invest in leadership training to help their employees become more effective leaders. If the staff are unwilling to adopt more constructive ways to manage their frustrations or improve their leadership skills, it might be time for them to reassess their management and team.
Revamping an entire team is a significant decision, but based on my experience and observations from other reviews, I believe Maverik needs to take decisive action to boost morale and provide a better experience for customers. Isn't that what we all seek? I wish them all the best in making these necessary improvements!"
