"Our experience with this restaurant’s catering service was disappointing from start to finish. My aunt had previously used them for her party and recommended their catering after she had a positive experience. She paid $300 for food for 75 people, which included 30 lbs of meat, beans, rice, and taco condiments. We thought we’d order for our party of 50.
However, when we called to place our order, we were quoted $350 for only 20 lbs of meat, a tray of rice, and condiments. That didn’t seem right, so I spoke with the owner. He explained there had been a mistake and offered to charge us $320 because the pork (pastor) we wanted was more expensive than the chicken my aunt had ordered. I reluctantly accepted, just wanting to avoid a confrontation.
On the day of the party, my husband went to pick up the food. I called ahead to confirm it was ready, and they assured me it was. However, when he arrived, no one seemed to know about our order, and he ended up waiting 30 minutes as guests were arriving at our home. He called me during the wait, expressing his frustration because no one was assisting him.
Eventually, someone found the order, but when they rang him up, the total came to $400. While still on the phone with me, he pointed out that the owner had quoted $320 plus tax. The cashier insisted that $400 was the final price. My husband requested to speak with the owner, who was present but refused to come to the register. The staff informed him that the price was firm. At this point, we were both extremely frustrated, especially since he was running late and felt like he was being taken advantage of.
Although we were upset about the situation, we felt cornered with guests arriving and needing the food, so we reluctantly paid the $400. We tried to put it behind us, but it was truly a terrible experience. We later realized we could have hired a cook to prepare food for our gathering for just $100 more.
To make matters worse, they forgot to include the taco condiments they promised to provide. My husband had to rush home and chop cilantro and onions, which delayed him even further. As a result, our guests didn’t get to eat until almost two hours after they arrived.
The bad service and dishonesty left a sour taste and cost them our business, along with the potential for more customers in the future. I would never wish this experience on anyone else, and I hope no one else has to go through what we did. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere!"
