"During my most recent visit on a Wednesday evening, the atmosphere seemed calm while we were warming up, but just 10 minutes before our tee time, a group of 10 guys arrived at the tee box. They were preceded by a group of 6, and as we waited to tee off, we noticed several groups of 6 or more finishing the 9th hole. It seems Mariner's is okay with accommodating large groups, which encourages these sizable parties to return.
I don’t mind larger groups as long as they maintain a good pace, but we found ourselves stuck behind these larger parties, and it took us 2 hours and 5 minutes to complete our round on one of the shortest courses in the Bay Area. The pro shop mentioned that these large groups often book three tee times back-to-back. Unfortunately, they waited until the last booking they made before teeing off as a group of 10, causing a backlog that started at hole #1 and persisted throughout our game.
If you're looking for a quick 9 holes, I would recommend considering other options."
