"New favorite Taco spot. Was brought here by a couple of close friends a few weeks ago and csme back again today. Was just as good the second time around. Hard shells that are made sturdy are hard to find. And the meat isn't super saucy but it's packed with flavor and not dry! My fiance and friend I took had burritos and both were nodding there heads and saying how good they were. Love the salsa bar collection and everything was good and fresh. DONT CHANGE A THING!"

"Even better, I asked Jay if he knew where I could grab a quick bite to eat, somewhere other than the usual fast food joints. He pointed out that the bar next door was connected to The Hillcrest and was open for another 35 minutes. I decided to check it out and ended up at Nirvana, enjoying a beer and a delicious chicken sandwich at the bar. It was such a lovely experience! The Hillcrest is truly a unique spot. I can't wait to return and dine in their restaurant; it has an ambiance that feels like Audrey Hepburn or Spencer Tracy could stroll in at any moment. At least I'll be there, happily anticipating the arrival of some intriguing guests."

"Everything remains just as we remembered. This location on Hwy 45 South is clean, the service is friendly, and the delicious Tex-Mex cuisine tastes exactly the same as it did back in the day. (Just a heads up, the Hwy 45 North location is a different story, unfortunately.) My family has fond memories of special dinner outings at the Bellaire, TX location, while my husband's family enjoyed meals at the Spring Branch spot during the 1960s and 1970s. After we got married in the 1980s, our kids would look forward to their annual family birthday dinners at the SW Houston/Hwy 59 location. We can't wait to return soon and share this experience with our children and their children, so they can create their own wonderful memories while raising the flag. More soppapillas, please!"

"The bartender was pleasant, but unfortunately, the food was so disappointing that I wouldn't even consider giving it to my dogs. I ordered the mini appetizers and the cheese crisp. The cheese crisp was lacking; there was an abundance of empty tortilla and very little cheese. The cheese itself tasted old and lacked flavor. The mini chimichangas were mostly tortilla, with very little filling. The flautas tasted like the cheap taquitos you find pre-packaged, just cut in half. For anyone claiming this is the best Mexican food, it seems they might be used to Taco Bell. The salsa was overly watery and tasted like it was made with tomato paste for color — super sweet with hardly any flavor. The chips definitely tasted a few days stale. While this might pass for food for inebriated customers, the owner really needs to reevaluate the standards and quality of the food being served."
