"Found the food to be very bland and more of a chain restaurant taste. Brisket was flavorless couldn't tell if it was dry or wet rub. No seasoning present and lacked any marbling. No flavor present representing anything of a hickory smoke flavor as well. Had a smoke ring but nothing else besides being dry meat. Sausage was more than likely a restaurant grade product. Seemed like something from restaurant supplier brand or Eckrich sausage. Sides were not anything spectacular. They weren't different but just the same old staples that come from a big box or giant can. I do not recommend them for being a place to get quality brisket or other bbq favorites. I didn't finish my plate. I couldn't find the effort to finish it much like the effort that was used to prepare it. I understand it's also a neighborhood restaurant but we should expect better quality barbecue in South Texas. They may have those awards plastered all around but their food lacked flavor and any hint of innovation when it comes to making flavorful barbecue. I challenge people to visit other barbecue joints on your travels and see what we are missing and should want in Corpus Christi."

"Meal was a complete let down. I got a bbq chicken plate with dirty rice and Mac and cheese as well as a Koolaid. Chicken was dry and hard as a rock, the sides didn’t have a lick of seasoning, And the koolaid was no where near fresh. Like it’s been sitting in the jugs for days. With me being 6 months pregnant I was looking forwards to them because my husband said that he’s been going here since he was in high school. It wasn’t even 30 minutes later that the food had me in the bathroom. That was a waste of 20 dollars but it’s a lesson learned as well. Never going back"

"Original review: Definitely did not go wrong ordering the link/brisket sandwich YUMMY! $7 chopped beef sandwiches are a deal for quality and size. Must stop when travelling between Houston and Austin! Update 10/27/23: Stopped in on our Friday night Austin trek and after seeing a woman get a to go box of catfish I figured I'd do the same. MAN OH MAN, I wish I had gotten a larger container to go as the catfish is on point with excellent seasoned breading! Look forward to stopping in next Friday."

"Yesterday, we visited this restaurant and ordered brisket and ribs. We were really looking forward to it, but also felt skeptical as it can be difficult to find a good BBQ place. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with our meal. The brisket was dry and thinly sliced, while the ribs were also dry and lacked any flavor or moisture. The mashed potatoes were creamy but lacked taste, and I didn't even get to try the corn on the cob. The banana pudding was average at best. Despite the restaurant's appealing appearance and nostalgic decor, I would not recommend eating there. It was a letdown."

"I don't want to be harsh, but this just wasn't good at all. The highlight of the meal was the toast, and perhaps the fish. The mac and cheese was quite basic. The ribs (8 oz) were tender, but the flavor was not enjoyable. The BBQ sauce was disappointing. Overall, it was a subpar experience."

"The ribs were excellent. The brisket was okay. The beans and potato salad was very good. Overall enjoyed the meal. Visited again while visiting with family. I had a Cheeseburger (typically I get at least a double cheeseburger) with bacon all the way. My sister-in-law and the person taking my order warned me to get just get a regular burger. I honestly wish I had taken a picture. I could have cut the burger in half and had a meal. It was delicious as were the fries. If in the area, I would highly recommend giving it a try! Third times, the charm! Visited Big 6 Bar-B-Que again before a football game while visiting with family. Had the cheeseburger ."

"I stopped by for lunch and later brought home a whole chicken for dinner. For lunch, we ordered the brisket and ribs along with some dirty rice. Everything was delicious, and the service was very polite. I didn’t try everything on the menu, but they offered a wide variety, and we will definitely return for more. This place is truly a hidden gem in Nederland. I also took a picture of their menu since I couldn't find an updated one online."
