"The meatball sub here is hands down the best in Wichita and makes a certain popular sandwich chain seem disappointing by comparison. With perfectly seasoned meatballs, marinara, and Italian herbs, it’s a delight. I always add sautéed peppers and onions, which enhance the fresh flavor even more. The marinara sauce is also freshly made, adding to the overall deliciousness. The mac and cheese may be straightforward, but it's tasty, though a little more salt wouldn’t hurt.
I ordered a large drink, and they have a "make your own" Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, which is a nice touch. While the prices might be a bit high for some, the quality justifies it. The large sub is indeed substantial and stacked generously. I chose pickup, and even during the busy lunch rush around 1:30 PM, my order was ready in just 10 minutes. They’ve also switched to new takeout paper bags that support the large subs better and are recyclable, which is great.
On a personal note, I had COVID-19 during Christmas and lost my taste and smell for about a month. After recovering, food still felt bland and unexciting for a few weeks. However, trying Firehouse really brought my taste buds back to life; it was truly delicious!"
