"The chicken was over-seasoned and a bit dry. However, the turnip and kale greens were quite good, while the mac and cheese seemed past its prime. On the bright side, the cornbread was freshly baked and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. The dessert looked tempting but was excessively priced.
I've attended both Soul Food events at Grand Central, but I think I’ll stick with Brown's for my soul food cravings. We were seated under a low ceiling to the left of the entrance, and the noise level was overwhelming; it was difficult to carry on a conversation. Thankfully, the noise subsided as the crowd thinned out. If I were asked to sit in that same spot on a busy night, I would definitely decline.
Despite my mixed experience last night, I will still recommend Grand Central, as I've only tried it during the soul food events."
