"We were recently hosting a bridal shower for my daughter who wanted to have a BBQ menu. I wasn’t sure BBQ food would fit the bill since the venue was semi-formal. After calling and reviewing menus of some local bbq places and not finding what I needed, I felt anxious and didn’t know where to turn. Then a friend mentioned a wedding that she attended that had used Dee Jay’s to cater their event. She said the food was delicious and recommended it highly.I called Dee Jay’s and spoke with the caterer, Nicole. She was so pleasant, responsive and accommodating and made wonderful suggestions! She put me at ease. I decided upon Kona crusted prime pork and grilled chicken with BBQ sauce (mmmm! on the side. Both entrees were delicious! The pork melted in your mouth while the chicken was tasty and tender. We followed with wonderful red-skinned mashed potatoes and green beans and a unique jalapeno cornbread meant to be eaten with a spoon. FANTASTIC!People raved. They went back for seconds and even thirds. People told me it was the best shower that they’ve attended. Nicole and Dee Jay’s MADE the whole shower! The price was reasonable and we certainly had an ample amount of delicious food to enjoy.I highly recommend Dee Jay’s and Nicole for catering for any event you are planning. Dee Jay’s also has all of what you’d consider more traditional BBQ food. Whatever your event, I am sure Nicole is able to design a delicious menu that meets your needs. I will be calling Dee Jay’s for future events! ….and I’m looking forward to visiting one of their restaurants! (Addendum...I initially called the Collier restaurant who put me in touch with Nicole for the Pittsburgh area."

"During my most recent visit, I decided to call in my order for pickup at the drive-thru. The person who answered was immediately rude, and I had to wait a long time before I could place my order. She informed me it would take 45 minutes, which felt excessive, but I agreed. They took my number and assured me they would text me when my order was ready. After waiting 50 minutes without any message, I drove to the drive-thru. I spent another 5 minutes waiting before anyone acknowledged me. By this time, an hour had passed since I placed my order. When someone finally approached the window, I gave them my name and then waited another 5 minutes for my food. However, when she brought it out, it was not what I had ordered. I pointed out the mistake, and she told me to hold on. After another 5 minutes, she came back to say, “Yeah, we’re not going to make you another one.” I could hardly believe it—a restaurant outright refusing to correct an order after I had waited an hour. I asked if they could quickly prepare it, as it was just a burger and fries, but she said, “No, you can either take this or leave.” I replied that I didn't want it and drove off. This establishment suffers from terrible management, and overall, it's simply not worth it. I suggest heading up the street to Belazar’s or Catfish Cabin instead; you’ll find much better food and service there."

"I have been to the Magic Lamp many times over the years. But this past Valentines’ Day was my last and I will never go there again. This is clearly a “regular’s only” place, as people that only eat there once a month are clearly not welcome! I called on the 12th for an early reservation on the 13th. A nice lady on the phone said that although she would not take a reservation for 5 pm, to be there by 5 pm and we would be seated as she said there were very few reservations for 5 pm. Easy enough I thought. We arrived promptly at 5 pm and the parking lot was empty, I thought great! The restaurant was empty too with only three people in the bar. We were greeted by a non-smiling young brunette gal who asked if we had a reservation, no I exclaimed, but also explained what I was told on the phone the previous day. The hostess looked at me like I had nerve and seated us at a table directly behind the hostess station in the busiest aisle in the restaurant. Mind you that the restaurant was completely empty. I asked to be seated in the nice large comfy leather seating across the aisle as I am 6’4” and my wife is 6’ tall, not to mention that the regular chairs are old, rickety and uncomfortable. The hostess said “sorry, but those tables are for reservations only” I have heard this line several times before…hence “regulars only”….Not to mention that we were also in the section with the ancient waitress with the scowl that has no personality and never smiles! So here’s the rub. We were there from 5 pm to 6:40 pm, and only one couple sat in the leather seats and was gone before we left. The seats were empty the entire time we were there! And when we left, the restaurant was only about 30% full. I have seen this, and had this happen to me several time before on regular non-special occasion evenings. This B.S. treatment really got us thinking, and we realize that the Magic Lamp Inn is not that nice of a restaurant to begin with, and not worth the money and trouble, especially with their prices in this economy. Example: a Filet Mignon is $42.00 A LA CARTE!!!! Give me a break!!! That is by far the most expensive filet in any restaurant, period! The Magic Lamp Inn is not even close to Flemings or Ruth Chris’s when it comes to quality of food, quality of service, value, quality of atmosphere and especially quality of seating. You beat the Magic Lamp Inn with a better meal with better service at 75% less at Cask and Cleaver!!! Do not be foolish and spend your money at the Magic Lamp Inn for a mediocre meal with terrible service!!!! Spend your money wisely and drive two more miles to Flemings!!! You will not be disappointed!!! Remember Magic Lamp Inn, service starts at the front door, and you consistently blew it !!!!! You “regulars” can have this place, you are all fool’s and deserve it!!!"
