"When we lived in Abingdon from 2020 to 2022, Jac's had become our favored place to buy take out steamed crabs. The crabs were heavy reasonably priced. They sold sides such as fried clam strips snow crab clusters other seafood. We were always waited on by one or two woman. The food was always well prepared we enjoyed it. This year we ordered crabs for pickup along with steamed shrimp. They were no longer offering sides such as the fried clam strips. We do not live in Harford County any longer so we had specifically ordered from Jac's based on previous visits. The crabs were not bad but not great. Some were watery some were dry. They didn't seem fresh steamed although the crabmeat was edible and did taste good. The steamed shrimp had not had the back cut out before being steamed. Generally when cooking steamed shrimp the back vein where the shrimp excretes it's waste is removed that part is open when the shrimp are steamed. So all the shrimp were steamed with the dirty vein in tact, which then had to be removed cleaned out before the shrimp could be eaten. I ate one I could taste iodine so I knew they had been in a solution to keep them from degrading they were not fresh. I did not eat any more because I know the residue from that iodine solution would make me sick. Plus if I was tasting the iodine, I wasn't tasting the shrimp. I'm not saying I'll never buy from there again but since we purchased from there, I did go to a different steamed crab establishment not far from there this past weekend bought steamed crabs shrimp that were 100% better also reasonably priced. This used to be my usual go to for steamed crabs, so I think it will be again now. I don't know if Jac's is under new management or what, but there were no women waiting on us. Just one man that I saw when we picked up paid for our takeout order."
