"Blink and you might miss the entrance to Elwood; it blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Inside, the restaurant has transformed a renovated townhouse into a cozy dining area. We were walk-in guests and a bit underdressed (the owner didn’t mind, and the other patrons seemed quite casual). The meal started with an amuse-bouche featuring venison scrapple, which was a fantastic way to kick things off—absolutely delicious. The pierogis were a standout, and the potato rolls were excellent. For our main course, we had the braided beef, cooked to perfection, accompanied by equally well-prepared vegetables. We particularly enjoyed the variety of roasted vegetables on the side, and the apple butter was delightful. For dessert, we opted for local herbal tea and a cheesecake tart, which provided a perfect ending to our meal (we also received some cookies, which my partner praised as perfect). The owner served us, along with his sous chef at one point, and both were wonderfully charming. Overall, it was a fantastic culinary experience."
