"Last night, I revisited the El Fenix restaurant, which used to be a beloved spot when I lived in the area. At 8:30 PM on a Monday night, my partner and I were the only ones in the restaurant! The staff was incredibly friendly, and our waiter gave us excellent service. He went above and beyond, especially since it was my birthday and he was just a genuinely nice person. The TexMex food was delicious and reasonably priced. This restaurant has definitely earned a spot on my favorites list once again."

"My wife and I had dinner at this restaurant tonight. We noticed the signs of aging in the setting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bartender ended up being our server. The plate was very hot, but the food was not enjoyable. The rice was dry and tasted old, the beans were dry and not appetizing. My cheese enchilada tasted like it had been made earlier and reheated. It seems like they are understaffed, which is affecting the quality of the food. When our meals came out only 5 minutes after ordering, it seemed like they were pre-made. We are unsure if we will dine there again."

"I was expecting a lot from this chain but it failed short. First, there was no one welcoming when we got there. Hostess seems tired and did not even smiled at us. She said that our table will be ready in 10mins.. it was ready but no server available. So we waited on the side.. for me, it could have been better if they offered us to seat rather than standing up especially with two kids. Our server, young caucasian lady, she seemed to be okay at first but I figured she did not care much.. I was told that she will give us a free sopapilla for my husband since it was his birthday. I know, it was not 100% obligatory but why say it in the first place if you will not serve it. I followed up twice and she just pretended that she did not hear me. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Then I asked her for a plastic bag for the left over..then I said everything would be okay except that she forgot that we were expecting to have the sopapilla. And the look on her face was really disappointing and even said oh okay ill get it I just said no need..we are leaving. The lack of hospitality in this restaurant is really outrageous. Mcdonald 's has better customer service than here without expecting you to tip them."

"So my first visit a few weeks ago I wasnt impressed with the food but I guess I ordered the wrong thing cheese enchiladas covered in queso with refried beans). Today I gave it another try and it was good. I ordered the beef enchilada with chili con carne sauce and chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce with charro beans. There was a bit of spice and the beans were great. Once again the chips were excellent. The hot sauce isn't spicy but you can't get that everywhere. The service is amazing and that is really important. I recommend you give El Fenix a try if you are in the area. Original review: Great service, delicious chips. Salsa not spicy at all. Enchiladas and refried beans were flavorless. I don't recommend eating here if you like any spice or flavor. I was really disappointed."

"el fenix mesquite used to be the meal of our families they have recently gone to Wed-Special, no announcement, no warning. we paid a little more for the same meal. they should have even reduced the portion chips. most importantly, our waiter practically ignored us most of our internal dining time, which is supplied with alcohol on tables. Non-drinkers pay attention to their service levels. we are not soaked. I'm looking for a better culinary experience as well as the best price-performance building, even less."

"I don't know how to start my comment. This is one of the most famous Tex-Mex food restaurants in the state of Texas. Come visit it is super historical looks like a museum. you can find many photos from the beginning of this great empire until today. but most impressive of all. but the most impressive is not the food, nor the photographs they have in the lobby, but the time that the workers have worked there. MORE THAN 25 YEARS. WTH. no salary on vacation for more than 25 years. and entrepreneurs get richer. that corporation doesn't care about employees. SAAADDDDD."

"Not a very friendly place. I stopped on my home from work and walked in. The staff was very cold and as I stood there, they just talked amongst themselves and stared at me. I finally sat myself and no service for 15 minutes. Finally a lady asked me if I needed something to drink. I ordered a margarita and she walked away. About 15 minutes she came back and asked me what kind. It took another 15 minutes for someone to bring me chips. Another 15 for someone to take my order and about 15 to get my food which was prepared wrong. I have been a friend of Alfred Martinez for decades. Since the kids took over it has declined in service and food quality."

"We hosted our company Christmas party at this venue, and it exceeded all expectations! The private party room, which accommodates 60 people, is beautifully set up. General Manager Juan Rodriguez was outstanding in making accommodations for us. The wait staff was incredibly attentive, and the food was fantastic. Overall, everyone had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this venue for your next event!"
