"We were pleasantly surprised by the food and the ambience. We live in the neighborhood and wonder why it took us so long to enjoy a great meal there. It's relaxed, it's delicious and above all our waiter, a really nice young man, was outstanding. It's a great place where you can't choose how you want to eat because there's a little bit of it and a little bit of it with Italian flair"

"Brought my mom here for her birthday but condescending manager ruined our meal. I ordered my filet medium rare, when it came out to me it looked medium well. Waiter even agreed with me but needed the managers approval. Manager with a condescending tone told it was just the lighting and said it was in fact medium rare. I know medium rare color and texture, and this wasn 't medium rare. However! I decided to drop it and verbally said it 's my mom 's birthday I don 't want to argue, to just drop it and I 'll have the steak as is no problem. Manager decided he wouldn 't drop it. Continuing a back and forth with me telling me if they make another it 'll come out the same. Again, I asked him to drop it but he continued and wouldn 't stop. At this point I just wanted to enjoy the meal with my family. Manager proceeded to then return a few minutes later again to bring up the topic that I asked him to drop so I can enjoy some family time just to tell me he comped my $18 drink because of the steak and so you see I 'm doing something for you . I don 't need $18 from your manager. It 's insulting. Speaking to me like I should be thankful for him or he did me a favor. Very frustrating experience, and this manager made it very difficult to enjoy my mom 's birthday dinner. All other employees were phenomenal. It 's a shame that this manager tarnishes their hard work and this restaurant 's name. And that $18 your manager comped, I added it on top of the regular tip for the waiter. Rather see those $18 go to a good person."

"We ordered several small plates, including crudo (raw sushi-grade fish with daikon), sourdough bread accompanied by olive oil and salt, chicken liver with cherry mustard seed, beets with chevre, winter squash, charcuterie, and my husband's favorite, the burrata (bread with mozzarella and herbs). To top off our meal, we indulged in potato donuts with orange chantilly and chocolate pudding with coffee whipped cream, reminiscent of a pot de crème. Overall, the entire dining experience was exceptional. We highly recommend Basta with its new menu and can't wait to visit again!"
