"We were promptly seated at a cozy corner table by the window at 6 PM. However, things took a strange turn from there. Our server rushed us to place our orders despite our requests for more time since a couple of us were first-timers. She repeatedly attempted to take our order in quick succession, which felt overwhelming. After placing our order, we didn’t see her again. After about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting, we managed to flag down one of the owners to place our order. On the positive side, the food arrived promptly, was well-prepared, and we had someone refill our water without us even needing to ask. I particularly enjoyed the Agedashi Tofu and the Nasu Karashi (grilled eggplant in house-made miso sauce). The eggplant came with three wooden spoons for sharing, and you could see the steam rising from its tender, flavorful flesh. Unfortunately, aside from the water, we received no further attention from the staff, including our initial server, to check if we needed anything, wanted dessert, or were ready for the check. When we tried to get the attention of another staff member, he seemed annoyed and stood several feet away, expecting us to communicate our needs from a distance. When we asked a young lady about our server, she responded unfriendly, saying, "Well, the owner took your order, right?" It wasn't the answer we were looking for as we wanted to inquire about dessert and receive basic service. Her dismissive tone discouraged me from ordering any sweets. While I usually try to be understanding when staff are busy, the complete lack of engagement and the staff's attitudes left such a negative impression that this will be my first and last visit to this restaurant."
