"Go there, it's one of the best Vietnamese restaurants you'll find. Driving down Pleasantburg Road in Greenville, SC, you can expect to see lots of dated, shabby looking strip shopping centers. One of which has a sign that says Saigon Fast Food. Should I go in you may say to yourself? I've heard good things about this place online but it looks like a dump from the outside. Yes, you can and should go in for this is a diamond in the rough.<br/ <br/ Saigon is tiny tiny as in seating for about 40 people tops. No fancy decor and there is a staff of two a very pleasant lady who serves as hostess and waitress and the gentleman in the kitchen who is the cook. The menu you'll be presented with is massive and you'll be given ample time to digest it. Nothing what you order though, at least from my experiences, will be a disappointment. I intend to go back again and again because everything I've had has been so incredibly good. This review is based on what I have been fortunate enough to experience so far.<br/ <br/ First of all, the crispy spring rolls. They're a standard at every Vietnamese restaurant but at Saigon, you get the feeling that they were just made and not out of the freezer. Served piping hot with a nice little side salad of lettuce, pickled cucumber, carrot slices and a spicy fish sauce, these little appetizers are a delightful way to get started.<br/ <br/ The bahn mi looks like a simple little sandwich but ingredients matter and again, the Saigon doesn't cut corners on quality. The bread tastes like it was made that day, the grilled pork is succulent and spicy enough. I don't know what's in their spread but it marries the meat, cilantro and pickled vegetables together in perfect harmony. <br/ <br/ So far, I've only had the grilled pork vermicelli bowl and it's a winner. The pork was all meat and no fat and was balanced well with the vegetables and noodles. There is something about the fish sauce here that's a cut above other places I've been. Don't know what it is but, its a helluva lot better. They also have a home made sauce on each table that's a delight. Not too sweet, not too sour, just right. Not that you'll need a lot because this dish is flavored perfectly. Did I mention the fresh mint and basil?<br/ <br/ I've had pho on two occasions and will be going back to sample others on the <br/ menu. The crispy duck pho and the beef pho are both very good and served piping hot. A good pho has a broth that someone prepared at least a day before and used all the right spices, cooking long enough for everything to marinate just right. Saigon Fast Food is a place that does just that because you can taste the ginger, anise and other spices. The beef, like the aforementioned pork, is free of fat. Duck is duck a somewhat greasy meat but if you like duck meat, you'll love the crispy duck pho at this place. All good pho soups (should) come with fresh Thai basil, lime, jalapeño and bean sprouts. That's the case here but Saigon goes the extra mile with some generous amounts of scallions, green onion and cilantro in the soup. Mix it all together and you're in heaven.<br/ <br/ I live in Asheville which, despite its reputation as a foodie down, is lacking when it comes to Vietnamese. Bobo Pho is horrendous and Pho R Us is inconsistent. Greenville is worth the hour drive south for the real deal. Saigon Fast Food rocks!"

"KinSen recently had their grand opening earlier this month and is so new that they don’t even have signages up yet other than a small neon sign by the window. You can easily walk by and not notice they are open. They took over the former Dek Sen location so it’s the same tight space, perhaps even tighter as they have gotten rid of the permanent outdoor dining structure in front. The interior has undergone some updates; I saw new flooring, updated light fixtures and new tables and chairs. We ordered Moo Ping (pork skewers), Goong Pair (shrimp fritters), Beef Pad See Ew, and Chiken Pad Thai. For dessert we got the Lava Cake and the Roti Hot Plate. My favorite dish were the shrimp fritters. These were the tiniest shrimps I’ve ever eaten but it really worked in this dish. The shrimp was breaded and deep fried with a side of vinegar dipping sauce. I could see this as a good dish paired with beer. And I thought the pork skewers were quite tasty. I found the flavor and texture of the pork to very good. The Pad See Ew was okay. I was missing the smokey flavor in the beef, but it was fine as a whole. The Pad Thai was another solid dish. We requested that it not be spicy as we had children with us, but we found it still had quite a kick to it. I personally liked it with a bit of spice but just be aware when ordering this. As for the dessert, the lava cake was a hit. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and was devoured. I’m not sure I would order the Roti Hot Plate again. While I did like the presentation, I thought it was too sweet and the roti did not hold up well when the sauce was dripped on. Dek Sen had a version of this in their menu and they executed it much better.I am planning on coming back to try more of their noodle dishes as they had quite a few listed that I am not familiar with. Noodles (sen), as part of the restaurant’s name, are prominent in the menu. Overall, I think this is a good spot if you are looking for authentic Thai food, but I would say not as good as it’s predecessor, Dek Sen (whom I’ll miss forever and will live in my memories).Tip1: they are cash onlyTip2: they are closed for a break from 3-4pm"

"Upon entering, I found the atmosphere bright and spacious, with a simple yet pleasant décor. Whenever I visit a new Thai restaurant, I like to assess their food based on two dishes: Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup. The Pad Thai was delightful. Many Thai restaurants tend to use ketchup instead of tamarind paste, so I was pleased to find this place serves it correctly with tamarind. I did have a minor issue with the dish—the noodles were slightly overcooked, making them a bit mushy, but it wasn't excessively so. I also ordered Tom Yum soup to-go, which was fantastic, although I personally prefer it with chicken rather than shrimp. It was packed with chopped lemongrass and chili peppers, which is typical for this type of soup. To finish my meal, I indulged in mango with coconut sticky rice, which is one of my favorite desserts. The service was excellent. The staff consistently checked in to ensure I was satisfied. When I noticed another table had a unique to-go water container and asked about it, they kindly offered it to me, which I thought was a lovely gesture. They truly made me feel well taken care of. When I ordered the Tom Yum soup, they suggested a smaller portion that could be enjoyed as part of the meal instead of as a separate item, showcasing great customer service. I’ll definitely return to try more of their dishes. Just a reminder: be sure to check in before ordering!"
