"I'm not sure what has changed, but it’s common for a decline in quality to be linked to new ownership or staff changes, and I suspect something like that may have happened here. We ordered house fried rice, a chicken curry dish, chow mein, chicken wings, lo mein, and egg foo young.
Starting with the fried rice, which I was particularly looking forward to, it appeared very dark. I assumed the cook had perhaps used a lot of soy sauce—something I'm usually fine with—but when I tasted it, I had to spit it out. The smell was unmistakable; it was clear that old oil from the deep fryer had been used, and that’s simply unacceptable. We ended up having to throw it away.
The other dishes were equally disappointing and lacked any seasoning. My curry had no curry flavor at all, and oddly enough, tasted just like the chow mein. Both had very little meat. The lo mein and egg foo young were bland, offering no real flavor. The chicken wings were slightly better in quantity, with four whole pieces, but they were smaller and quite tasteless.
I'm unsure what's happening with this restaurant. The poor quality of food was a shock to us, though I had noticed a slight decline over the previous months; I never expected such a drastic drop this time. It’s particularly unfortunate because Falmouth has so few dining options, and Ming Moon is the only Chinese restaurant in the area. We have always enjoyed their food in the past, but this last order was a significant disappointment. While we will likely give them another try in the future, it will be a while before we do, and we will only order a small amount to test the waters. Overall, we feel like we wasted over fifty dollars, which is really disappointing."
