"The restaurant features its own sushi area as well. I ordered the filet mignon and shrimp with fried rice. The salad that started the meal was surprisingly good, topped with Thousand Island dressing—just your typical Japanese restaurant salad. The fried rice was outstanding; even if you order steamed rice, you still get a little sample of the fried rice, which was absolutely delicious with butter and egg, along with the chef's special techniques. The filet mignon was incredibly tender, and the shrimp was expertly cut into a specific shape that made it both easy to cook and enjoyable to eat. Two delectable sauces were provided—one for seafood and another for meat—each enhancing the flavors beautifully. The chef also prepared some bean sprouts, which was a lovely addition. I particularly enjoyed the chef's entertaining tricks, such as the volcano formation and the classic teppanyaki fire display, all while he passed on his skills to the newer chefs. I visited for my birthday, so I benefited from a $30 discount and complimentary ice cream in matcha and vanilla flavors, which was a delightful touch! That said, there were a few drawbacks; our wait time after placing the order was nearly an hour, largely because the chefs were busy serving and cooking at multiple tables. Some reviews mention issues with billing and the mandatory 18% tip, so just keep that in mind. Overall, this is an amazing experience that definitely justifies its price. It's hard to believe that a classic establishment like this is set to be demolished for a hotel—possibly a Marriott, though I'm not entirely certain. Many employees and locals are quite saddened by this news, but they’re committed to making the most of their final days until they close next Wednesday. The chef who served us tonight will retire with full benefits. I'm grateful I had the chance to visit this restaurant that sparked my curiosity when I drove past it often as a child. As for parking, finding a spot can be tricky on busy nights."

"Never been here before. Had miso soup. I had it once before somewhere else and wasn't a fan. But here, it was absolutely delicious and perfect on a cold, rainy day like. The sauce for the Crab Rangoon was sweet, but not overwhelming, and tasted of apricots. At least that's what I thought. When I asked, I was assured there was no apricot in it . It was just Thai Chili Sauce. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think. The wanton wrappers were thin and delicate, but very crispy. And the filling was rich and creamy. The chicken wings were small, but surprisingly tasty. The sauce had a mild bbq flavor with notes of pineapple or oranges which was complimented well by the the fresh lemon wedge they gave me.I asked the server about the size of the wings. She said they intentionally picked small wings because the sauce was able to permeate throughout the chicken, giving every morsel a generous coating of flavor. And she was right! It's not always about the amount, but it is always about the taste. The sauce even kicks up the flavor of the shaved carrots and cabbage served with the wings. But the best part was the Beef Teriyaki Bento Box. Shrimp and Vegetable Tempera. The vegetables were tender and not overcooked.Same for the shrimp. The batter looked thick, but was light and fluffy. The sushi rolls were light and creamy. The Teriyaki sauce was thin, but was extremely flavorful. And the coleslaw had a peanut sauce on it that knocked me completely out.I wanted to try the mango pudding, but couldn't eat another bite. So I got an order to go. I'll let you know how it was at another time ?.I will definitely come here again. Worth every penny."

"Poke Star Sushi is located in the Marina Faire Shopping Center in San Leandro, CA. It 's at the corner of Doolittle Drive Fairway, next door to Subway Sandwiches. I tried this place on a weeknight just before closing. In fact, when I walked in the guy said they were closed. But he said if I ordered fast, they could quickly make it. So I scanned the menu, and I decided to get the Passion Salmon Roll and a Dragon Roll. As they made my rolls, they told me all about their business. He strongly suggested I order ahead of time using their website and come pickup my food. Those rolls were good. The ingredients were fresh and had no stale fishy smell. The presentation for takeout was neat and organized. This place is takeout or delivery only, as there 's no dining room available. I don 't know if they set up tables outside in the daytime. So why 4 stars? Because the restaurant looks untidy. The dining room is being used as a storage area, and there 's stock everywhere. The restroom is not available to customers, so why not partition off that part of the restaurant so people can 't see it? I 'm not being picky! If a restaurant looks messy, that affects a customer 's expectations. If you order delivery, this doesn 't affect you. So, in summary, Poke Star serves good sushi rolls, has good service, but needs to tidy up their restaurant.
