"In Santa Monica, my two favorite sit-down Mexican spots are Gilbert’s and Don Antonio’s. This location even has a free parking lot at the back, which is a plus. The menu is extensive, featuring all the Mexican classics. Our server was very courteous, and everything we ordered came out super quickly.
I opted for two of my favorite dishes: Albondigas Soup and Carne Asada. Both were absolutely amazing, and the portion size for the Carne Asada was quite generous and cooked to perfection. The steak was thick and juicy, unlike some of the thinner cuts you get at other places. They also offer some great merchandise, and I particularly liked that there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available.
Overall, Gilbert’s is a seriously delicious Mexican restaurant that’s sure to satisfy any time of day. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good Mexican meal, and I definitely plan to return soon. Parking is free behind the restaurant."
