"In my recent Yelp review, I shared some photos as well. This restaurant is new and was previously home to Masa Sushi. Although the building remains the same, everything else has been completely revamped. I rarely give five-star ratings, especially for all-you-can-eat sushi places, but this one truly deserves it. I visited twice within a week with friends, which speaks volumes about how good it is.
First off, you have the option to order sushi and sashimi à la carte if you don’t want the all-you-can-eat option. I found the spider roll (soft shell crab roll) to be slightly below par compared to Cho Cho San. It contained a cream cheese and crab mixture typically found in California rolls, which I believe has no place in a spider roll. Perhaps this is just the chef's unique take, but I respectfully disagree.
The spicy tuna hand roll is one of my benchmarks for evaluating sushi places. Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming—lacking the spice I look for and tasting rather bland overall. However, I still stand by my five-star rating because of possibly the best shrimp tempura I've ever had. The portions of very fresh fish are impressively large compared to the small amount of rice. In fact, the slices of fish are often large enough to wrap around the rice entirely, showcasing the skill in their preparation.
The restaurant serves food quickly, with the chef expertly slicing the fish on the fly to keep up with demand. The presentation is beautiful, and you can see that in the photos I posted of some chef specials that were generously offered to us as a treat. The oysters and mussels were incredibly fresh, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented.
Pricing is quite reasonable, particularly when compared to trendy spots in Downtown L.A., making it feel like a bargain given the impressive size of the fish on each piece of sushi. In conclusion, this has become our go-to restaurant for satisfying our sushi cravings."
