"When I finally received my drink, it was completely flat—every soda from the fountain tasted like sweetened water. As for my burger, it lacked any flavor and tasted burnt, even though I was hungry enough to eat anything; I ended up throwing away nearly half of it. This was surprising, especially since the place had a wonderful smell wafting through. The wait time was also absurd considering there weren’t many customers. The final straw for me was when the young woman who took my order reprimanded me for placing my metal tray in the wrong spot. I didn’t see the shelf above the trash can and decided to bring the tray to the far end of the counter, thinking that would be helpful since I didn’t want to leave it on the table. Instead of being understanding, she sharply said, “DON'T SIT IT THERE, SIT IT OVER THERE, OVER THE TRASH CAN.” While she wasn’t shouting, her tone clearly conveyed her irritation. I replied that I had thought it would be easier to place it there and hadn’t noticed the shelf. After leaving the restaurant, I headed to see my stylist, who informed me that the establishment was black-owned, which suddenly explained a lot. As a proud member of the black community, I feel we need to strive for better. It seems there’s often a tendency to provide subpar customer service in black-owned businesses. The atmosphere here was neither inviting nor professional; it reminded me of a corner store, and I regret not walking out instead of placing an order. On a positive note, the location is nice, and the tables and floors were fairly clean. The menu had some good ideas, but the execution fell flat. With improved customer service and more skilled cooks, this place could really thrive. For now, though, I can say with certainty that I won't be returning."
