"We started with fried calamari, which arrived overcooked and burnt. After sending it back, we received a replacement that was better but still incredibly rubbery, and we couldn’t finish it. I ordered clam chowder while my wife had a salad, and both were fantastic—hence the two stars.
For our main courses, my wife picked a basic fried drumfish with fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw. Sadly, the drumfish was overcooked with burnt breading, and the hushpuppies followed suit. The slaw tasted old and like it had been stored in a damp basement. I opted for swordfish served with penne, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, capers, and goat cheese. It sounded promising, and the first couple of bites were delicious, but then it became overwhelmingly salty—like, eye-twitching salty. I enjoy salt, but this was just too much. The swordfish itself was quite good, though.
To make matters worse, my wife ordered a margarita with a sugared rim, and it came out with a salted rim instead. Our server was kind enough to remove my wife’s entrée from the bill, but even so, the total of $118 did not reflect a satisfactory experience. I hope it was just a fluke for the kitchen, but we won’t be returning. It definitely left a bad taste in our mouths—literally."
