"My wife, my in laws, and myself just sat down here to eat. We waited about 30 minutes after being sat for someone to bring us a menu. We didn’t have enough silverware for all four of us. After it was brought to someone’s attention, no one brought more silverware. Anyways, wasn’t too busy. But still waited an hour for our food to be brought out. Two rare burgers, a Reuben, and a taco salad. We ate, and after 30 minutes after we were done eating, decided to go up and ask for our check because no one had come back to check on anyone’s tables. Mind you, no one ate all of their food. My wife and I asked for two to go containers for four meals worth of food because WE DID NOT EAT IT!!! I signed the check, put the amount, and no tip. Yes, no tip. I didn’t have enough money on my card after paying for the meal. I was almost to me car to grab some cash for her. I always carry more cash than I keep on my card because I’ll spend it if it’s all on my card. Anyways. She chased me out side and screamed “Uhm did you mean to really not tip me,” to which I responded, “excuse me?” And she yelled back “why wouldn’t you not tip me?” So instead of giving her the cash, I got into my car and left Absolutely not. First, tipping is NOT mandatory, I do not care how much you do or do not make that’s not my problem. Do not chase me down and yell at me for not tipping. I was absolutely going to tip the woman until she ran outside and HOLLERED at me. Absolutely not."

Bar is a bit off putting. Literal bras hanging from the ceiling. ATM doesn't work. When bands play, they take up a quarter of the bar. However the food is decent, and bartender was great Service: 5

They have a good menu when you can get a seat. The bar service sucks. You only get a drink if she knows you. Stood there 10 minutes waiting while she visited and bullshit with the locals. She needs to be replaced! Service: 1

This five star review is solely for the restaurant experience which was excellent. Daily specials. GREAT value HUGE portions at AMAZING prices. Tuesday is the Chicken Parm which was massive and delicious. Maybe $16. The server literally ran. Long pours on the drinks. Inexpensive appetizers. Updated below is my original 5 star review but I don 't think I 'll go back after my last experience. The owner is now charging for take out containers (without telling me) and my last take out bill must have had a tip automatically added also based on the math once my confusion over the cost cleared. My $16 meatloaf special cost me almost $24 somehow (cash not credit). This is the type of place you expect in this area, but with better people and better food. I love these 'redneck ' bars so don 't interpret anything here as negative the Altmar is this type of place just as I expected. You won 't find white glove service but you will find great food and excellent service at reasonable prices....
