"After checking out the website and seeing that this place has been open for 4 generations we were very excited to try it. The staff was nice, that's about the only good thing I have to say about this place. Review of each item we ate is below... Cole slaw very pureed and had a bad aftertaste, like there was a penny in my mouth Green beans very bland, just canned and no seasoning Ribs the meat was ok but they don't trim them so there was a lot of waste that you couldn't eat. They also left the silver skin on Brisket very dry, mediocre at best Chicken I needed an extra drink to dip it in because it was so dry. another person with us tried the chicken breast first and said how dry it was, I tried my leg thinking that the dark meat was better but nope, dry as a bone and no flavor whatsoever Jalapeno cheese sausage this was by far the best thing they serve but the skin is still very chewy and I had to spit it out. Beans pretty good ranch style beans Overall... will never give this place a second glance. Spring Creek blows this place out of the water and it's chain BBQ. If this place has been in business for 4 generations... the 1st generation is probably rolling over in their grave by how bad it has become"

Great moist chicken. Had the half chicken and it was excellent. Side of beans. My wife had the lean brisket which was great also. Their ice tea is one of the best.

first time I'm here. that was the most delicious grill I've ever had, including the sides! I love how they set up the set when they walk in. the staff was so friendly and helpful. we need one in san antonio!

This is, without a doubt, the best BBQ I've ever experienced. The ribs were served hot, and the meat fell right off the bone. The crust was perfect, and the service was excellent. I absolutely loved it and would want to go back every day, though it is a bit pricey!

Food is OK. Nice sauce. Love me some burnt ends. Definitely coming back. ProTip: watch out for the hidden deep pothole at the entrance. It hasn't rained here in eons, so it has to be a pretty old hazard. Yet they've done nothing to make it safer. C'mon y'all, if ya ain't gonna fix it, then at least throw out a rubber cone or something. I'm sure that I am not the first victim. View menu

delicious! nice that we could finally check this place. I hear it's the latest situation, it's big and spacious. the staff was very friendly. we tried the brisket and the pork ribs were both very good! for the sides, we have the potato salad and mac and cheese, also very good. we live in houston and had rest to go home. even the left were good. will definitely be back. try the original location in curly hard.

We happened upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It seems to be quite popular. I ordered a quarter of a smoked brisket and a quarter of a beef brisket, along with potato salad and green beans. The meat was delicious, while the potato salad was standard but enjoyable. However, the green beans needed some seasoning as they were quite bland. The BBQ sauce provided on the table was thin and lacked flavor, so I opted to eat the meat without it.

Yes, it was good, but this is gross advertising !! There can only be ONE Black's Original and that's the Lockhart location. Yes, I know Austin has one, but that meat is trucked in everyday from Lockhart, so that's acceptable . This location makes it's own BBQ so it can't be an Black's Original. Yes, this is splitting hairs, but we're talking Texas BBQ and there's no room for error here. The brisket was extremely moist and tender. full of flavor. The jalapeño and cheese sausage was tasty and not spicy at all. The side may have been canned but were very tasty also. My Black's experiences San Marcos, Lockhart, 2 in Austin and now NB have all be consistently good for many years. This is a sampli... View menu

we had heard of blacks and were in the opposite and decided to try. we didn't know until we were there that it was where the rudy was earlier! we ordered brisket, which was very delicate and tasteful and also ordered some sausages that was also very good. our daughter wanted the porridge, which was very tender, and full of taste. for the sides we have mais, pinto-bottoms and Macn cheese. the framed mais was very creamy and tasty and we loved the pinto bean and how they were seasoned! the mac n cheese was just ok. they had packed a lot of broth slices, pimples and wobble, but not the variety of seasoned, which rudy had with jalepenos, bananenpfeffern etc., so that was disappointing. also the...

The barbecue here is quite decent—definitely satisfies that craving, although I can make a better version at home. To be fair, I tend to be rather picky when it comes to barbecue, so keep that in mind. For most people, this is likely among the best options available. The beef rib could have been cooked a little longer; the fat was nearly rendered perfectly, but just missed the mark. However, it was seasoned wonderfully. Unfortunately, the brisket was dry and lacked much flavor, while the jalapeño cheese sausage was also bland and dry. I really enjoyed the sauce, though I was disappointed that I had to rely on it. The chopped barbecue sandwich was pretty good. The coleslaw was outstanding, an...

"Update: I still stand by everything in my original review but I will add. Our work group picked to eat here again a year later. I was DREADING it, but ... It's actually a really nice dining experience when the weather is cooler and flies aren't swarming the table, which was the case this time. I was so relieved. Don't go when it's hot!! Our server was an angel and very sweet and attentive, so my review is completely about the atmosphere and not her. It's hard for me to fathom that there is a restaurant in Texas that doesn't have AC. Even harder to fathom that said restaurant would be so popular. And this was a day that was NOT triple digits so I can't imagine what it's like in the dead of summer. Especially with a bunch of people (like ourselves) who have most likely been floating in the sun for over four hours down the Guadalupe river. I'm usually cold and bring a jacket in my car for places I go that are super cold from AC, so I'm not hot natured. I was ROASTING the entire time. I highly recommend the bathroom. I was desperate for relief from the heat and thought, surely the bathrooms have AC. Thank the heavens it did. I asked an employee, who had also gone there to cool down, how many times a day ambulances had to come treat heat stroke victims. She actually confirmed this was a frequent occurrence. These POOR servers!!! In fact, while we were there they had to put ice packs on another person at another table. I downed at least three or four glasses of ice water along with a cold Topo Chico. Flies everywhere swarming our food. Flies were the the thing that finally made us give up and leave. I would have taken the rest of my pasta salad but alas, one fly that I tried to shoo away had settled in and was not going anywhere. So it got left. I ordered the cold pasta salad because putting something hot in my mouth seemed unimaginable to me. It was, I will say, absolutely delicious."
