"My husband and I went for dinner on a Saturday night. We arrived early and they were just opening. We were coming straight from a couple of basketball games so we’re wearing jeans. This seemed to be ok although I would have dressed differently had I had the opportunity. We wanted to see the landscape before the sun went down so we booked a 5:30 reservation. The setting is just lovely. Nothing but rolling hills upon the approach. We had a single malt in the super cute bar area where a wall of black and white photos kept our interest all the while chatting with Ian. He was open and easy to talk to. Dinner in the dining room was special. The fresh yet warm ambiance with a roaring fire and many lit pines just outside the wall of windows was so charming ! I just loved it. The food was fresh and every bite a treat. Dan came through with smiles and laughter to greet the diners and add additional joy to the wonderful evening. Just a lovely experience! We would highly recommend a visit to Durham Springs and Cascade."

Very good food. Nice Selection for the brunch. Enjoyed the way the meal came out in stages.

Wonderful food, great service, interesting way to serve food (via different carts). Can't wait to go back! View menu

Apparently when you book through open table you are given a seat furthest away from the fireplace. I had to eat with my coat on while watching other people enjoy their food.

Only two servers for the entire dining room. Trainees and helpers made the situation tolerable, but below what one would expect at this price point. No check backs or refills. Food was excellent, but I was not expecting an almost 3 hour meal. The fireplace was putting out smoke in the dining room. My sweater smelled like smoke the next day.

We had an incredible dinner at Cascade. The menu is small but everything was prepared perfectly. The restraurant has been renovated so don't confuse it with the old, dark Cascade Lodge. The view is still stellar but the inside is bright and modern. The owner made several trips to our table and even brought us a glass of champagne to thank us for coming out on a snowy night. The prices are a bit on the high side but we definitely felt that it was worth it, especially for a special occasion. We will definitely be back in the spring to enjoy the outside dining. View menu

we had a table below to celebrate my man's birthday. the personal was very attentive, but not overlaid. he stole a birthday contract after eating. ian, one of the owners; gave us a detailed tour. can not wait to go back to the first Friday: dancing in the evening or brunch on Sunday. Also, looking forward to the warmer weather the deck opening (other menu.) no specials because they are open only on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday brunch; but still much to choose; and in portions were in front of location. we made a reservation because we celebrated a special occasion. but there were several couples with dinner in the bar area; we were there at 17.30.

I loved the location notwithstanding the noise level in the dining room. Acoustic tiles would be a plus. As to the food it was not wonderful. The arugula salad was excellent but the chicken breast was strange and tasteless to say the least. It was under seasoned actually it was not seasoned at all. My husband ordered a steak for 49.00 which he expected to be thick and juicy. This was not a 49.00 steak as it was cut too thin. The steak was also under seasoned and he could have gotten this type of steak at any diner for half the price. Beignets for dessert were so so because they were too heavy with not enough powdered sugar. All in all I won't be rushing back.

"This review takes into consideration the entire experience. Some good. Some, well, not so good. Made the reservation through Open Table well in advance for a Thursday at 5 pm. Requested a table or booth for 2 in the bar area. Also used the feature that allows you to declare at special occasion being celebrated. For DW and I, it was our 43rd wedding anniversary. Greeted at the door and seated at a nice compact 2 top table in the bar by the fireplace right next to a four top that was set for 2. Our server, Eve, welcomed us and pointed to the specials board and then told us that they were out of the Poulet, Meatloaf and Croquets menu items. There went our hoped-for entree, The Poulet. Drinks were ordered and proved to be okay. Eve was acting bartender and did okay. Apps and mains were ordered. DW had the Baklava, and I had the Mussels. Both were excellent and are recommended. A big disappointment was that the mains came out while we were still enjoying our apps. They had to be placed on a near-by table until we rushed through our remaining bites. DW had the Short Ribs which turned out great. I had ordered the Cowboy Filet, and it didn 't come close to my medium rare request. Another problem was that Eve never returned to ask how our dinners were. If Eve had, I would have pointed out the overcooked meat and requested a new preparation. But unfortunately, that never happened. I left the filet, cut in half, on display on my plate. When Eve did return, I refused the box and showed the condition of the filet. After some discussion and Eve making a trip to the kitchen, the Filet Diner was removed from our check. A just settlement to the situation. DW and I then shared the cheesecake and enjoyed the coffee. For a top-end highly rated restaurant our experience was a half and half result. Half very good and half, not so good. Finally, a recommendation would also have to be a so-so recommendation. Lastly, our anniversary was never mentioned."

"Recently I decided to try a new restaurant I’ve seen in my travels but it wasn’t open during those times. However today a friend of mine and I felt the weather was perfect for discovering a new place. As I normally do I read reviews and looked at photos to acquaint myself with the venue, and compare it to my own experiences after dining there. As beautiful as the Delaware River Valley is there are always new places to try and hopefully add to your list of those you’d visit again.Lately I tried two places that I found disappointing by my standards, luckily this wasn’t one of them. In fact I enjoyed it more than I expected to.Nestled into a hillside The Narrows faces the River so it’s a bit scenic. It’s also right on River Rd so the limited outside dining can get noisy. Inside it has a bit of an urban industrial vibe pleasantly mixed with a few cozy country touches. They could use some good music and some greenery would help. The lunch menu isn’t vast, but there are choices for most tastes. I tried the Burger and my friend had the Chicken sandwich.. mine with herbed Fries (I found a bit salty), and his with their own version of potato chips which were nice n crunchy. Both dishes were satisfying and flavorful with ample portions. The food and the service was a bit slow, but it was a Holiday busy weekend. We both felt we would come back and try more of their offerings n perhaps a dinner. I do hope they’ll offer some more sweets in the future to add to the meal.So fire up the Vette or the Bike and bring your date ,or family, to check it out for yourself. Once you’re full you can walk it all off along the river and canal.. I’d say try it!"
