"It's a tight squeeze, but it's got a friendly atmosphere. The food is pretty good. It would be nice if it was a little more consistent. I've had their macaroni and potato salads, and they have been made and prepared so differently. I liked it so much, I went back just for them! Another day I went there and it was awful. Their menu has a very good assortment of food. All day breakfast with a lot to choose from. There are so many things, and they have fresh pies and cakes. Yum! Good price, home cooking feel, good portions."

"We live on Long Island, NY and we have three German restaurants within 14 miles of us. But no German food from this restaurant comes anywhere near the quality offered by the Oktoberfest dinner Charlies Café. The food was just delicious. Absolutely the best potato pancakes I've ever tasted. And the red cabbage was made fresh, not a little pre-processed. My Pork Schnitzel was crisp and tasty and my wife ran over her Stuffed Cabbage. I tasted it and it wasn't the standard boring, mild meal so usual everywhere else, but had a delicious taste. We were just one night here in Elmira and glad we visited Charlie's café."

"Used to eat at The Palms when Rick and Mary owned and was sad when it closed. Never realized it had reopened under new ownership until my son in law invited us to my daughters birthday dinner. So thrilled to have a local restaurant that offers a delicious selection of appetizers entrees and deserts. The wait staff first class, the atmosphere was quaint cozy and comfortable but most of all the food was amazing. I had an opportunity to sample the Coconut Shrimp with Raspberry sauce and it was delectable. We attended on a Friday so I ordered the broiled, lemon peppered fish (haddock) with chips. I was well satisfied and looking forward to our next Friday night. For desert our party sampled a variety of treats all equally gratifying. I had the Creme Brulee, it was treat. What a serendipity night. Only regret is not knowing it had been open for several years now."

"Went for brunch on Sunday. Busy!! Need to make a reservation! The bartender Jeremy was a star. He handled all drink orders with calm efficiency. Even the women who wanted every detail customized, because they didn't realize the other hundreds of people mattered. Breakfast was great. Possibly the best omelette if had! Owner was also on sight and chipping in. Great place for views. Staff was attentive and friendly. The wings were great! Oysters were a tasty treat. The tuna was pretty good, but watch out for the wasabi- its the real deal. HOT! The calamari was very greasy and the ceasar salad was small and no dressing, and was $7. Lots of interesting mixed drinks. Definitely worth another trip back."
