"My wife and I have eaten here for the last 3 years or so, and this is THE best place for breakfast in Daytona. It has been there 82 years. The bacon, eggs, grits, and coffee are VERY, VERY good, and priced very low. It is run by an older, genteel Greek couple, and we love our waitress, Barbie, who is very helpful and gregarious. She says that when she was 12 years old in Tampa, she used to jump alligators with her bicycle! Compared to the other Daytona packed, loud, and expensive breakfast places, the Gateway is very quiet, and most customers are older tourists and older local people and some young people. Yes, the tables and chairs are old and old style, BUT, to me, that just adds to the charm of the restaurant!"

The Gateway Restaurant is a great place. The food is great, the service is great, the prices are great, and they even opened early for me one day because I got there before 7am. Excellent prices! This restaurant has been around for quite some time, and the original owners are still running it, even though they seem to be in their 80s. One of the waiters is always cheerful and often breaks into song. If you enjoy classic diners owned by families, you'll absolutely love this spot!
