Gurney's Newport Resort The Lounge Fire Pit

Great until scarpetta put meat in our table bread and didn’t tell us. We're vegetarian.

We reserved for late night cocktails and apps. The ambiance is superb! The drinks were great and the oysters were fresh tasty!

Everything was great from the weather to the service and especially the food. My only thing was we were told our visit was limited to 1.5 hours and even when our time was up there didn't see to be anyone waiting for our table. We would have enjoyed a bit longer enjoying the view.

we had a reservation. here for almost a month. there was no possibility to specify inside or outside seats in our reservation. we called ahead and said our reservation was guaranteed outside when we arrived, they told us they couldn't sit outside and we had our puppies with us. They took us to the house, but it was stuffed in a corner and we couldn't let the dog sit on our lap. In addition, it is covid and we did not feel comfortable eating inside. the host was rude and said that she could not do anything to help.

There was one poor waiter who covered the whole lounge was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. We were not acknowledged for the first mins we sat, and finally we had to let a bus boy who ran away AND the hosts know somehow there were standing around at any given point doing nothing to help. As tables that had been sat down after us were served and rounds of cocktails, we finally got a drink at the hour mark. of the hostesses must have gotten bored enough to filter water from the harbor herself to bring us another mins after that. had made a reservation in august for this last Friday evening, the 23rd. when I made the reservation, there were all reservations for outside. great, that's what I wanted. the reservation was at 8:30 a.m., at 18:15 a.m. and said we could sit right away. we were brought to a table. I had declared the hostess that if we booked 2 months ago! it explained that all reservations were for outside. It is difficult to write this review, as this restaurant used to be our favorite spot in Newport as locals. The current menu is completely different from the summer menu we were used to, and it was not listed online. We were expecting to enjoy our usual hummus plates and cruditie, but instead found only a pricey full menu. If you are looking to graze, I would suggest going elsewhere. It seems like they are trying to mimic Scarpetta's, the Italian restaurant associated with The Gurney, which was not what we were looking for.
