"Worth Waiting For. I always wondered whether it was worth the wait to have breakfast at Jimmy's Egg. I wonder no more. We had less than a 10 minute wait on a drippy wet Sunday morning before we were seated. The menu is extensive, and contains about what you would expect for a breakfasty type place. The one thing that caught my eye were the sweet potato pancakes. They are delicious, with a very nice sweet flavor. The hash browns are also excellent, cooked with a light crunch to the exterior, but not in any way burnt. The turkey sausage has a robust flavor that came as a pleasant surprise. The only thing I found lacking was the coffee, which was nothing more than watered down diner coffee. Service was very fast. We were in and out in about 30 minutes from the time we ordered our meal. Jimmy's Egg has better prices and better food than Village Inn. Better service, too. It is well worth a small wait."

This place is very popular on weekends, often with a line out the door, but my recent visit was on a Wednesday morning.

My first visit to this location. This is now my favorite one in Omaha. Our waitress (Mary) was very good and got our order soon after we sat down. She returned with our food in about minutes and checked with us twice during our meal. I had the ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and a side of biscuits and gravy. My omelet was cooked very good and was loaded with ham. My hash browns were nice and crisp on the outside and tender inside. My biscuits were very fresh and the gravy was thick and seasoned the way I like it. Most places put way too much pepper in it. My friend had a huge pancake and an order of hash browns. As for the food, there were no leftovers. Service was great (thanks Mary)...

This was my first time visiting this Jimmy's Egg location, and it’s now my favorite spot in Omaha. Our waitress, Mary, was excellent—she took our order shortly after we sat down and brought our food in about five minutes. She checked on us twice during the meal, which was appreciated. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and a side of biscuits and gravy. The omelet was perfectly cooked and packed with ham. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and tender inside. The biscuits were very fresh, and the gravy was thick and seasoned just right—not overly peppered like at most places. My friend enjoyed a huge pancake and hash browns. We finished everything with no leftovers. T...

Definitely Worth the Wait. I always wondered if breakfast at Jimmy's Egg was worth the wait, and now I know it is. On a rainy Sunday morning, we waited less than 10 minutes before being seated. The menu is extensive and offers everything you'd expect from a breakfast spot. What stood out to me were the sweet potato pancakes—they were delicious with a lovely sweet flavor. The hash browns were also fantastic, perfectly cooked with a light, crispy exterior without any burnt taste. The turkey sausage had a bold, flavorful punch that pleasantly surprised me. The only downside was the coffee, which tasted watered down and lacked strength. Service was very quick—we were finished and out withi...

"First, the restaurant is super cool. You enter and immediately see the open kitchen and bar below. We were seated with a great view of the working kitchen. It was our anniversary and they presented us with complimentary bubbly and a menu that read Happy Anniversary at the top. Our server was prompt and kind. We ordered apps and our meal at the same time. Apps were a little slow but we don 't mind taking our time. The andouille sausage over grits was good but a bit oversalted. The croquettes were good but somewhat mushy. Overall flavor profile was good. Some time passed after completing our appys and began to notice the kitchen plating dishes and entrees being served to every table except ours. Again, not in a hurry so we weren 't upset. But it became excessive. Large groups seated while we had appetizers were served their entrees. Small tables seated after we finished our appetizers were served. The kitchen can put out food fast, just not ours. So now our apps are expanding in our belly and our excitement about our meals are diminishing. Finally our entrees arrived. My snapper raw. So sad. The gnocchi was ok but again, way over salted. But the flavor profile was so good. This had the ability to be amazing. My husband ordered the wagyu flank steak. It was just not good. He barely ate one piece and left his sides as again they were way way over salted. Our server noticed that we barely ate our meals and spent time asking for feedback. She was very kind and the manager discounted my meal (which I did not want, but appreciate). Anyway, we probably won 't be back. Good presentations. Very good flavor profiles. Failure to deliver overall though due to extremely salty, improper cooking and extraordinary wait times. Hopefully they can improve as some other recent reviews reflect similar feedback."

"Very good experience here. Nice atmosphere, place was comfortable from all aspects. Waiter was helpful in ideas to choose from, but not pushy about anything. Located in Omaha?s downtown Old Market just a block North of Howard Street. I ordered the Habanero Lobster Bisque to start. It was excellent. Had a bite to it, but for people who like a bite, it?s not that bad for heat. If you don?t care for spicy at all, this may have a bit more of a kick than you like. Over all, to me, I thought it was excellent, and would not hesitate to have it again if it were made for that day. For the main meal, I got the Midtown Meatloaf. The meatloaf was a bit different than I?m used to. I will say, the waiter did an excellent job at letting me know how their meatloaf was compared to what most in these parts are used to. Around here, you?ll typically find it?s cooked with ketchup on it, and generally some sort of brown sugar glaze, and then you can add more ketchup after it?s sliced on your plate. This meal is nothing like that, and I was fairly warned. However I still wanted to try it. There?s no ketchup, or glaze at all. It?s more like what I would consider a hamburger steak. Then they put a light brown gravy on it. So, it was a good meal, but not like what I?m used to. I would most likely opt to move to other menu choices next time, as opposed to making it a ?go-to? meal. It was good, but not near legendary in my book. However, this is more of a matter of my pallet choice, and with all else I mentioned above, this was a 5 star visit, and well worth another stop."
