La Mixteca Tamale House

I'm not sure what the other reviewer was referring to. My vegan friend frequently visits this restaurant, and I love it as well. They serve a delicious veggie and black bean tamale, and their hot sauces are fantastic. I truly enjoy dining here.

The vegan veggie roasted tamale is incredibly tasty! Their rice and beans are also vegan, and they even have a black bean tamale on the menu. The restaurant has a charming ambiance for dining in, featuring a clean and modern atmosphere that’s surprising for a location next to a gas station.

All the negative comments sound like people want free food, and want to be treated like royalty? If you can’t afford it, then eat at home. Tamales are made fresh daily here. I had a chicken for lunch and beef tamale for breakfast. Meat is so tender and pull apart very easily with a fork. Add a little salsa for extra heat. I was told tamales are usually served on weekends in manay place, because the process to make tamales is tedious. And I could go this place for tamales on a weekday, that's pretty cool.

The tamales at this restaurant are simply amazing. I had never tried them until a friend encouraged me to give them a shot, and I'm so thankful I did! My favorite flavors were the green pork and rajas (jalapeño and cheese) after tasting all nine varieties. The tamale bowls are also excellent and quite hearty. I highly recommend visiting this place to satisfy all your tamale cravings.

I traveled half an hour to dine at a restaurant that advertised vegan options, but unfortunately, there were none available. The only items they offered were rajas and fruit tamales. The rajas had cheese in them, so they weren’t vegan, and the staff couldn't confirm whether the fruit tamales contained milk. Since the menu didn’t clearly label the tamales as vegan, I opted not to take a chance on them. View menu

Randomly popped in today and realized I’ve been missing out on this little gem. It’s in a gas station plaza, so you wouldn’t think much of it, but I was pleasantly surprised. A fairly large space, very clean and modern. I ordered at the front and received a number to take to a table. My meal came out within minutes. It’s was delicious! I ordered the cow tongue taco and a mild chicken tamale. Will be back for more!

The best tamales in Atlanta. I love that they sell tamales by the dozen because I ordered a few dozen for Christmas and it was so good. It saved my wife a few hours of time in what was already a busy day. I loved the Rajas, Green Pork, and Mole Pollo but all were great.Judging on how packed the place was, it is clearly great tamales. They are very well priced at $3 each compared to $5 tacos you’ll find around the city.Only downside was the wait time but considering it was Christmas Eve, I was understanding. I’ll definitely be back.

Just moved here and have been getting a lay of the land. Stopped for gas and saw La Mixteca Tamale House. Growing up in El Paso, TX and being spolied when it comes to tamales I had to stop in and check it out. BEST DECISION EVER! Man these tamales are perfect in so many ways. No 1. The masa has flavor and the meat feeling is onpoint. No 2. They make their tamales with the perfect meat to masa ratio, so many places it's all masa or all meat and no masa. Any true hispanic that grew up making these knows how important that is! No 3.
