"It is not TexMex; it is not OkieMex. It is a version of traditional authentic Mexican food. I had dined here several years ago. At that time, I must have not been particularly impressed; I didn’t document the encounter with a review. My assessment now, decent Mexican food. As about as good as any place in Grove. Mild tomato-based salsa. The salsa picante has some heat. I distinctly remember the chips from the first visit. And my only real complaint. They are crisp, but a little dark like they have been under the heat lamp too long or toasted too long. My wife had a spectacular chili relleno that she raved about while eating it and continued raving on the drive home. It was covered with a very tasty and flavorful tomato based red sauce. For me Chili Rojo. Described on the menu as tender cubes of pork in a spicy red chili gravy. It didn’t mention anything about potatoes. The plate that came to the table had chunks of potatoes. The pork was exactly as described and plenty of it. Excellent lean tender pork. I pushed the potatoes aside. The gravy was tasty, a little spicy, but far from the red chili sauce I had hoped for. The meal was good. Great beans. Check the pictures. Las Palmeras has a slightly different version of traditional authentic Mexican food. The restaurant is a typical little Mexican joint. The building shows some wear. Bright colorful Mexican village scenes cover everything. Patio dining is available for those mild winter days. The restaurant is clean throughout. The service was fast attentive and friendly. Try it and compare yourself! If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection Jalapeno Highway by Spike S. on Yelp. I 've probably been there."

"Overall was not impressed. Tried to use Open Table to make a reservation but Open Table said they couldn’t reach them. Called directly and was able to make the reservation. Get there for it and they had the completely wrong name. Last name is Hamilton they had it under Olson Not sure if only one waitress showed up or what but there was only one there. Waited at the bar to try to get our drinks refilled as the waitress hadn’t come back by. Took about 10 minutes. To be fair she was making a drink to start with but then I’m pretty sure she washed some dishes. Either way she went to the complete other end of the bar from where I was standing. Finally flagged another person and got attitude. From the time the food was delivered and we finished eating it no one came by the table to check in or offer drink refills. We were told the breading on the fish n chips was very light. It was the heaviest breading I’ve ever seen. We had to pull it out of the breading to eat it. We had 4 people that ordered the fish n chips. 2 of those people had breading that was nowhere near cooked on the inside. Old grease was definitely used. You could tell by the smell and color of the breading. Waitress was very nice when we saw her. Again not her fault that she was the only one there and the place was completely packed. When we told the waitress about the issue with the breading. She apologized and said she’d let them know. By that time we were well and done eating so there was really nothing else to be done. I will say that the spinach artichoke dip is probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Overall though not impressed Also, this is a little random but the shrimp linguine has no shrimp. The description on the menu says lobster. Which upgrade but also why call it shrimp linguine then? Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2"

"3rd Edit: 08/08/2019 Things have slowly improved. Like I have mentioned before, the food has always been consistent and 100% great. The service is what has been lacking. It seems however they finally got some good service back and the shifts are running a lot smoother than they had been in the past. It feels good to come here to relax for a nice meal and not have to worry about getting poor service. Bumping back up a star, vast improvements have been made, getting new menus and plates really were a great idea. Second Edit: 9.3.17 It has been over a year since my last edit, I have eaten here probably 10 times since the last edit, Things with the staff seem to have gone unresolved. My latest lunch: When we arrived no one greeted us as usual. Went for lunch a few days ago, Our waitress came to the table the 1st time to take our order without a pad, said she would be right back, took 10 minutes. Then brought our waters, without straws, said she would be right back with them. Never returned until food was delivered. There was 4 of us in a very empty restaurant, had to get our own straws, and refills on chips and waters. If it wasn't for the food staying consistent, I feel this place would have closed down quite a while ago. Review Edit: Dropping from 5 to 3 Stars for now, the past several months, the wait staff has been far below expectations. Some trips we have to get our own water and chips. I have been in several times in the past months, and nothing has changed, I have witnessed a couple sat down, without drinks or anyone speaking to them for 15 minutes, before they finally got up and walked out. This was always my first choice when going out to eat, but has started to become a last resort. I am hoping things start to shape up and get better. I will be taking a break for now until I hear things are improving. Previous review: Best authentic Mexican food for miles. I love to eat, this is my go to place when I am hungry. Great lunch deals, food is 200% always consistent. Honest friendly wait staff, wonderful friendly owners."
