Amazing food and atmosphere. Scotch John Dessert was delicious. Peach Cobbler was delicious. Charlie our server was a big guy with tons of spirit!

This place is a true gem in Charlottesville. The staff here is the kindest I've ever had the pleasure of encountering. If you enjoy chicken, this is the must-visit spot in C'ville.

It was a truly unique experience. I really enjoyed the Southern cuisine and the atmosphere. The ordering system is a bit restrictive, which helps reduce waste, but it can be challenging since you can't choose exactly how much you want. The prices are relatively high, but that's understandable, especially during COVID. I would definitely return in the future. View menu

We had a few people recommend that we should eat lunch here after we visited Monticello. The food was hot n tasty. But it was SO EXPENSIVE !!! $22.95 per person for lunch. Drinks are excluded. The peach cobbler was good but a small portion it was $5. Plus the City charges a FOOD TAX that was $7. So our lunch for 2 was $67 plus tip!! The food was chicken pulled pork with mashed potatoes, stewed tomatoes, green beans, black eyed peas, beets cornbread. Not worth $67. They were dressed in period clothing but nothing fancy. I thought they would explain customs of the time or a bit of history but they don 't. And they were quite busy.

Wow was a great place to stop eating. It's like you're going back to 1784. The settings, the building, the decor in all are in the time of 1700. The smell of southern food is so amazing. You will eat goods on the period: Pewter plate and cups. We found this back a few years by chance and I'll be back to any chance I can. Last year we drove from Virginia Beach to Michie for lunch for my birthday. (2.5 hours drive) So good is the food. The fried chicken should die. All right. The fried tomatoes are what my honey comes for. So delicious. The Black Eye Peas, Beans and Beet are all so good. A must for lunch (you are only open for lunch) when you are in the area. A perfect pairing with a visit to Monticello. I'm sorry not sorry, but any of the reviews that says it's a tourist trap or that the food is everything, but fantastic must be bitter with negative settings. Tourist trap? To be honest, they work with what they have and connect with the history of the area. I don't see anything wrong with that. There are also shops there, but no one tried to sell us in shopping with them. The food? It's absolutely delicious. You get your first round buffet style and can then get more of everything you want. This place feels like a tourist trap. It's a buffet where you create your own initial plate, and then they bring you more food. The pricing might be reasonable if the food were actually good, but unfortunately, it falls short. They charge extra for drinks and desserts, so it’s not a true all-inclusive buffet.
