"I've been visiting Nick's for almost a year, and there's a good reason for that. I appreciate the people, from the bartenders to the rest of the staff. It can get quite busy on certain days, but I tend to be a bit antisocial at times, so that's not really their fault. The dive bar has two distinct areas: the front has a restaurant vibe with line dancing, while the back features karaoke and a bar run by two friendly staff members. Would I recommend this place to someone from the city? Probably not, primarily because of the country music. However, it's a great spot filled with active-duty military and veterans. I'll definitely keep coming back!"

This review comes from 1995, when my band, Random Dog Band, triumphed over 50 other bands to win the NoVa Battle of the Bands, held at Nick's. That experience was unforgettable...

It was quite quiet during the day, but we struck up a nice conversation with the bartender, who happens to be from the same area as us! She also shared her enthusiasm for Line Dancing with us.

Love this place. Real country music dancing with great mix of couples' dances like two step, waltz, and west coast swing plus tons of different line dances. Dance floor no drink rules keep the floor clean. Great food. Prices reasonable considering it is in City of Alexandria. View menu

Love this place. I'd classify it as a country dive bar. The bands are really good. The bartenders make great drinks and provide fast service. The karaoke room in the back was jammed packed and it seemed like a bit of a hip hop scene. But the country bar in the front was awesome.

This is a great spot for line dancing lessons and karaoke on the weekends. The food is surprisingly tasty. However, I don't like that there's a cover charge on Fridays and Saturdays in addition to the dance lesson fee. Also, you have to pay for water since they only provide bottled water after a certain time. Aside from that, the atmosphere is enjoyable, and the bands are generally quite good. Brittany is my favorite dance instructor, but all of them are excellent!

I’m a guitarist that’s played Nick’s several times. An they are one of the Best an funnest Crowds to play in front of. Because they appreciate good music and love to dance.so by far Nick’s is one of my favorite places to play out of all the Venues. I’ve played and not to mention the food is fantastic. And they have great prices on their drinks. So get out there and check them out .If you love to dance and you’re around Alexandria or DC you’ll have the time of your life. View menu

The wife and I have been going to Nick's twice a week for 3 years. The food is always on point, with special items being rolled through weekly. The front bar and dining area plays host to most of the dance crowd along with a live band on Fridays and Saturdays. The back bar is where the karaoke singers will find their refuge. All the bar, wait, and kitchen staff are very laid back, polite, and amazing people. There is plenty of parking and the cover starts late enough that if you're really committed to your evening, you can get there before it begins.

I haven't been there after happy hour, but their happy hour is fantastic! The food is absolutely amazing—not your typical bar food. They have the best wings and chili cheese fries I've ever had. Our bartender, David, was incredibly accommodating. He could have easily complained about our numerous requests, but instead, he served us delicious food and drinks without hesitation. The highlight was when we asked for some flavor recommendations and he came up with some great ideas on the spot. Don't worry, we made sure to take care of him! We had no disappointments on either side, haha. I’m going back today!

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."
