I dined in for dinner and found the meal to be fantastic, with prices averaging between $10 and $20 per person. The food was outstanding, earning a rating of 5 out of 5. The service was very good as well, scoring a 4, while the atmosphere also received a 4. I highly recommend trying the Flauta! Traveling through, around lunch time we often look for out of the way, hole in the wall, type establishments, as that’s usually where you find the best food. Acosta’s Nieto’s Cafe did not disappoint! Being from Texas, we had to ask if they had salsa that was hotter and what our waiter brought us was super good! We had the tacos de pastor, and tacos parrilla. Both excellent! If I ever pass through Hugoton again I hope it’s at lunch time, because I would for sure stop again!

I nearly rated this place four stars, but considering the impact of Covid, the service issues seemed to stem from a shortage of staff and the restaurant being quite busy. The food, however, definitely earned it a five-star rating. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. This is what I call KAN-Mex food. I’ve dined at Mexican restaurants all across Texas, New Mexico, and Kansas, and this place delivers good flavor without being overly spicy. The sauce served on the side is expertly mixed.
