"The Lobster Shack is a small, BYOB, lobster shack, on a wharf in Surry, Maine. It has no land food. This is a traditional Lobster Shack, like those you will find throughout most of the small inlets and peninsulas, along the coast of Maine. The atmosphere is great. All seating is outside at picnic styles bench and tables. Seating is on a long wharf jutting out into Blue Hill Bay. Together with the salt air, and views of Cadillac Mountain in the background, the aesthetic is sublime. I am not a fan of seafood, but my wife and family are, so I will rate the food based on their descriptions. Food receives thumbs up. The lobster is steamed just right. Corn is tender. Rolls are typical white, soft rolls found in New England. Steamers are good, and receive praise from my family. For those who only eat land food, bring food to bbq, they have a grill for you to use. There is locally made soda to drink, and if you need an alcoholic beverage, BYOB. Dessert is good. Ice cream from Morton's Moo and pie at times. Service is good. Servers are attentive in this casual atmosphere. We have been frequenting this location for years, and always come back. Although I don't eat seafood, I always eat the corn and rolls, with whatever meat dish I brought. This is a great place, and really, the prices and servings are no different than any other lobster shack and pound within the state. For the lobster lover, looking for a splendid location, this place is for you."

Best lobster in the area, with one of the best views you can get! Definitely don't skip the lobster roll and a walk on Carrying Place Beach afterwards.

The food was fantastic! We had a combination of 1 pound of clams, 1 pound of mussels, half a crab claw, half a lobster roll, and half a crab roll. Everything was delicious, but I would have preferred the rolls to be toasted.

One of our favorite places and conveniently the closest place) to eat during our stay in Surry. The crab dip/chips is amazing. The crab roll and crab salad also very good. The views are picturesque. The staff is friendly. You can dock your boat and bring your own wine/drinks. View menu

This truly is the place for seafood lovers. The lobster, mussels, and clams were amazing, and the blueberry pie was a highlight as well. However, the menu options were quite limited. The chicken fingers weren’t crispy and didn’t come with fries. The only vegan choice available was guacamole and chips, which had an unusual texture. On a positive note, the corn was delicious. Overall, I would recommend it for the seafood but would suggest looking elsewhere for a wider variety of options.

We were staying down the road in a B B and decided to go here for lunch. We arrived at 1:30 thinking the lunch crowd would be gone. Wrong! We had to wait for a table. However, the wait was well worth it as the lobster dinner I ordered was outstanding. If you like lobster you will love the lobster here. Order the lobster/clams special. Comes with slaw, corn on the cob, roll and melted butter for $22.00. Be prepared as they accept cash or check only. I also ordered a Blueberry soda and I was in heaven. If you are out on the Neck this is a must stop.

We were there last week as we stayed a few miles up the road. The lobster was absolutely the best we have every had and we live near Newport Rhode Island ! The Lobster comes right off the boat at the dock and is so fresh. The young man who owns it is Seth Cote and has the best personality every. the help is friendly and very helpful. It made our trip there to Maine very special. We all bought t shirts (7 of us) so we would not forget this great little spot. I would recommend it to everyone I know. It is well worth the trip there. Did I forget the secret word? It feels like if you say it, you might be magically transported to the place where the other reviewers had their meals. I ordered a lobster roll and coleslaw, but the portions were so small that I had to rush back to my car to find my glasses. And of course, the prices were quite high. I finished my meal with blueberry pie, which was so tiny that it got lost beneath a scoop of ice cream. After all that, I went home and ended up having a sandwich. The food was just okay—not great—and the portion sizes were disappointing. While the taste was acceptable, the prices were outrageous considering what you received. The highlight of the experience was the lovely drive t...

Cold food, long wait. Pre ordered once we found out there was a 45 minute wait ahead of us. 45 minutes turned into more than an hour. We preordered with permission from the hostess with 1 party ahead of us. Get seated. There are 10 or so tables. Of course ours had a busted umbrella that almost clocked my wife in the head. Waitress takes our drink order, we tell her about the pre order, she says no problem. Waited ANOTHER 30 minutes. My lobster order shows up, it's not the soft shell I ordered, but a hard shell. I'm told there are no clams so they gave me muscles. This is fine, I'm ok until I realize my food is ice effing cold! Pissed off I just eat the food and pay. Screw this place with a 1...

"I am only giving 2 stars because the people in this establishment were attentive servers and friendly and great. However, for a fine dining seafood restaurant, the food was incredibly disappointed. We wait over an hour to be seated and then waited an equal hour for our food. Our food did not come to us until after 9pm. When we then learned once we finished the very plain, overpriced food, that the establishment closed at 9pm, an hour ago, and they no longer had coffee refreshments for after meal. When I say the food was plain, it was so plain. I order the company platter with a selection of seafood, my crab cake had shell in so much of it and no seasoning to taste, I may as well slurped the meat straight from the shell, the shrimp were rubber and hard, so over cooked and bland, the flounder was tasteless, mushy in the middle. Incredibly disappointing. As an appetizer we order tuna bites, that came to us so highly seasoned you cant taste the tuna and then the tuna itself was incredibly dry and over cooked. So sad. There is no recommendation for this place. I hope the server we had can find a place that matches her excellent service, for it's sad she probably suffers from the kitchens lack of quality. Also, 4 adults will easily spend over 200 for dinner, so it's a very high price to pay and long wait to be had for sadly cooked seafood. Find somewhere else to go."
