"This food was amazing. It also just happened to be vegan. I’m not a vegan. I’m an omnivore, but I appreciate good food regardless of dietary restrictions. Let me start off by saying, ORDER THE FRIED OYSTER MUSHROOMS! This was the best fried food I have ever had. In. My. LIFE. They were that good. Just get it, you won’t regret it. Second, the ratatouille was fantastic. It was great on its own, but the fried tofu on top sent it over the top (and added protein)! The mushrooms en papillote were good. They came with carrots and potatoes all cooked en papillote with thyme and orange. The “cream” sauce was also thyme and orange flavored, but it had too much orange for my taste. It was still good, but it was my least favorite dish of the night. The bananas Foster’s was good, but not traditional. It was almost like a savory very of the dish. It had a noticeably grilled taste. Still great, but different. My only complaint of the evening was service. There was one woman hosting, serving, and bartending. Naturally, service was a little slow, and she failed to clear the empty appetizer platter when she brought the mains. Ambiance is great, light, casual, tastefully decorated. Although the sprinkler head light fixtures weren’t my style, everything else was aces. Will definitely return! I might even bring a vegan with me next time to get their take!"

Sanctuary Bistro did not disappoint. Everything from our birthday dinner was delicious. The purple pasta ravioli was excellently fried with a creamy filling, the oyster mushroom en papillotte was flavorful with perfectly steamed vegetables, and the lemon trifle was layered with the most delicious fruit. I'll definitely be back to support this local vegan restaurant!

I visited Sanctuary for the first time and I am not a vegan, but I was completely impressed by everything. From the delicious mushroom chowder soup, to the vegan charcuterie board, to the oyster mushroom scallops - everything was incredible. The service was excellent from the moment I walked in and the food was delicious. I will definitely be returning next time I am in North Carolina. View menu

What I appreciate most about this place is its unique menu. I get so tired of having the vegan chicken, burgers, etc. that every other vegan restaurant seems to have. My husband and I were up for a few days from Florida and came for brunch. We got the omelette, chocolate chip waffle, and biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious and also reasonably priced. We would definitely come back.

I was so excited to see some of the vegan options in Charlotte! I certainly experienced great customer service. My server was very helpful and even provided me with a list of all of the vegan options in Charlotte, which I thought was so kind and helpful. I had the mushroom oyster inside of the tortilla bc it was good. I wasn’t crazy about the roasted potatoes, but the strawberry cheesecake was good.

I recently had the best meal I've had in years at this restaurant. I've been attempting to transition to a vegan diet for the past 2 years, and this place has finally convinced me that this is the way to go! The service was exceptional, with the owner Jennifer providing a warm and friendly approach. The atmosphere made me feel right at home, enjoying a fantastic meal. My friend and I were treated as if we were the only guests in the restaurant. I must give a 5-star rating to the Executive Chef for the amazing dishes. View menu

We were visiting NC, and the first place we ate was at Sanctuary Bistro. I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. Firstly, to have the ENTIRE menu dedicated to GF AND vegan food? What a freaking dream. We didn't have to worry about a thing, just pick and enjoy!! The chilaquile will be my fav for a while. I almost cried when we tried the tiramisu. Second shout out to Noel. My girl. What a wonderful human. I found out afterwards that she was a yoga teacher! I am too! I so wish we had this place in Ohio too. Delicious food, great atmosphere, highly highly recommend.

Excellent restaurant, good menu. Chef Barry and I do not align on taste preferences, but the food is very good. I would go back to try another menu next time I am in Charlotte. Fried mushrooms: 8/10 much better with the remoulade for me. Did not like the sweet sauce. Batter was good, mushrooms held oil a little more than i’d like. The little potatoes and mushroom bacon served with the fried mushrooms were 10/10 Trumpet Scallops: 9/10 the base was one of the best things all night. Mushroom texture didn’t mix well with the base for me. Purple ravioli: 11/10 easily the best all around plate of the night. Pasta texture was strange, but the sundried tomato cheese filling was phenomenal, and the p...

"My friends and I were enjoying a beautiful night in South End and one of them had found this place online. So we stopped by for a drink. Wow! Gorgeous place! The interior design gave me the warm, welcoming feeling of being at The Grand Bohemian Lodge in Greenville SC- upscale, but unpretentious, inviting, and fun. We were immediately welcomed by the bartenders who talked to us about their different beers and kombuchas. We ordered a couple of flights to sample as many as we could and sat down to play Jenga in one of their many seating areas. Our spot was 2 old leather couches flanking a gorgeous wooden coffee table. So relaxing and sociable. I’ve never been in a brew pub with so much greenery (ferns and other foliage adorn and drape from the rafters filling corners and crannies around the room), natural wood, and light! Another great feature was a floor-to-ceiling wall cabinet filled with really cool things. The beers were unique and fun to try. The vibe is worth the visit even if you don’t love beer. I enjoyed a glass of prosecco and loved learning about and sampling the other beverages. They also have a great outdoor space for gathering where dogs are welcome. My sense is this place was designed for building community, which is something we all need more of. Turn off your cellphones and come here to meet people, pet dogs, and enjoy a great experience!"
