"I was excited to find Cajun fries, fried okra, fried catfish, mussels, clams, crawfish, and of course, Cajun crab legs on the menu. I opted for the crab legs with the 'house sauce,' which was infused with that beloved Cajun flavor I missed. It was absolutely delicious! I was equally impressed with the okra, which surpassed the Cajun fries in tastiness, although I was glad to enjoy both. The okra had the perfect crust and flavor, and the accompanying sauce was fantastic! The crab legs were wonderful, and while King Crab would have been a treat, the Snow Crab legs were just fine. Crab legs are crab legs, after all! I’ve grown weary of San Diego seafood spots that don’t offer Cajun or Southern flavors, so I was especially pleased to find this gem. The atmosphere here was so welcoming, and I even noticed a regular relishing in their ghost pepper hot crab legs. We chose a spice level just below the hottest option, and it was just right—enough to enjoy the flavors while providing a nice kick. The fried catfish was excellent, a dish I haven’t seen often in restaurants around here. Wayne, our host, was amazing; he checked on us frequently without being intrusive, showing great hospitality along with a kind and professional demeanor. The kitchen crew did an outstanding job, leaving me eager to return! This place is also charmingly decorated. The only thing that would have made my experience even better would have been the option to enjoy a seafood boil featuring Cajun crab legs, mussels, clams, potatoes, corn, and shrimp. Overall, I’m so glad we discovered this restaurant! "

Food was great. Crab legs looked clean as well as the shrimp, clams and lobster tails. Had plenty of options to customize your order. House seasoning was a touch on the salty side. Service was great.

Just finished my first meal at Shrimp Heads, and oh my goodness it is so good! We got the house deal and it is the perfect portion for the price, the house sauce was amazing, and all of the seafood tasted so fresh! Also tried the fried okra and calamari, awesome! Finally, the service was impeccable! Definitely will be coming here again and again.

I shared a shrimp and lobster boil that came with potatoes, corn, and garlic bread, and it was fantastic! I also tried the Thai tea with ice cream, and it was incredible! I was initially put off by the exterior of the restaurant, but I'm so glad I didn’t judge it by its looks. The interior was bright and beach-themed, and I will definitely come back when I visit San Diego again. View menu

Wish I would have taken pictures but it was just so good we forgot, food was amazing. First time at a seafood boil place and did not disappoint! Prices are fair for the delicious seafood, also it was cleaned correctly. Customer service was excellent, our server kept checking on us to make sure everything was good and to see if we needed anything. Atmosphere is cute and clean. Will definitely be bringing everyone I know here.

The boil was pretty good. I got the snow crab boil and chose to add all the flavors which was pretty tasty. Corn, potatoes, etc. must be ordered separately. All in all it was a good deal. Although the staff was nice, service was pretty slow. They seem to nickel and dime you for everything. I asked for cocktail sauce and there was a $0.50 fee but it seemed more like ketchup. I asked for more horseradish and was told that would be another $0.50 charge. Look at the difference. Horseradish was definitely needed!

The service at this restaurant was excellent, and our host was wonderful. The photos definitely capture the "how it started vs. how it ended" vibe. Whenever my family visits, we always indulge in the seafood boils, and the flavors are absolutely delicious. I'm a big fan of the mussels here. My husband ordered a cocktail served in a shark-shaped cup, which unfortunately you can't take home, but the drink itself was fantastic—I just can't recall its name right now. Overall, it's a great spot to enjoy some seafood. The parking lot is spacious, and the inside features tables with pulling chairs rather than booths. It was very clean, and yes, I definitely plan to return. View menu

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
