"However, things took an unexpected turn when a boy of about nine years old began running back and forth between the kitchen and the dining area, dressed up as a cowboy. At one point, he grabbed a manual floor sweeper and started pushing it around the dining room, bumping into tables and chairs, including mine. Meanwhile, a woman who seemed to be his mother was engaging with the kitchen staff, presumably picking up a to-go order. It wasn't clear if she was an employee or a former one.
I really don’t think young boys should be running around restaurant kitchens. Was he trained in food safety? When was the last time he washed his hands? Could he be trusted to avoid touching food, prep surfaces, hot items, and sharp objects? Honestly, I have my doubts. This situation reminded me of the classic short story, "The Ransom of Red Chief."
Ultimately, the presence of that boy ruined the atmosphere for me, and I'm not likely to return to this LaRosa's."
