Had to make a reservation and only offered $100 omakase. Was really excited to try it but led to disappointment and a wasted trip.

Came for omakase, left happy! For $100 you can get a no frills, high quality omakase experience. My partner and I can't wait to go back.

The quality of the fish is really good. A three-piece starter, followed by around 14 courses of nigiri, and ends with ice cream. The prices have gone up since pre-COVID but still great value and worth the visit View menu

Simple, delicious, and expertly prepared sushi. I’m very particular about where I get sashimi, and this place was great. But recently portion sizes are half what they used to be at same price. Feel cheated as a long time customer. Too expensive now.

My husband and I visited this place today and food was so good! I’m Japanese and my husband is American and we both love it. We tried Omakase and it was great deal. We are here for a trip and would love to visit here when we come back to the city!! とっても美味しかったです。ごちそうさまでした!

BYOB.Astonishingly good fish. Some of the best imaginable. The chef opened with cuts of fatty tuna that would be the star at a different restaurant. This was one of the BEST sushi experiences I've ever had! If you're in DC, you need to make this your sushi/omakase spot.I've had sushi over 100x in my life and not many places stick out. Aside from having fresh sushi, how can you really be that different than every other sushi spot??1. The Service is world-class. I've had horrible experiences but John, Kevin and the crew were attentive, educational, and on point. They made our experience exceptional. Been a while since I've stopped in for the omakase it's a solid entry level omakase, priced fairly at $100 for around 20 bites. Quality of fish varies, it's mostly more common fish given the price (most expensive bites were otoro and hokkaido uni). Shari held shape, but lacked flavor for me and wasn't served at optimal temperature. Neta is sliced ok, maybe too thick overall, some of the nigiri bites weren't properly balanced. Otoro was sliced poorly with lots of sinew/chew. Truffle salt on the scallop way overpowers the bite. Hamachi, Kanpachi, Unagi, Aji (surprisingly good) and of course uni were my favorite courses. Recently, I was so happy to see Sushi Capitol had opened back up, since I thought they may have permanently closed a couple years ago. All the ingredients were fantastic in quality and prepared meticulously. From the appetizer (monkfish liver, baby scallops, and Washington state oyster), through the 14 pieces of sushi (fluke, salmon, Spanish mackerel, amberjack, scallop, uni, ikura, yellowtail, aji mackerel, ootoro, black snapper, unagi, tuna temaki), and finally to the miso soup and dessert, Sushi Capitol really shines for staying true to serving the highest quality product possible without any frills.
