Taylor's Mexican Chili

Would like to visit again! I hope it has not changed in the last 40 years!!!

Great soup. I don't love chili, but the vegetable soup is great. It is a unique texture and the taste is really good. My cousin takes the chili to Chicago.

Certainly one of the best Taco salads I've ever enjoyed. Wonderful staff, fast service and excellent food is really a recipe for success. We will definitely be back for more.

There was a child with my grandparents who had a farm in Plainview. It was in the restaurant in 2005 after my grandmother died. Time to buy another case and find out how the Habanero variety is.

Have been going to Taylor's my entire life(60+ years) and it's still the best chili in the world! It's changed hands and locations but the one thing that hasn't changed is the quality. The service is great too! Keep up the great work! View menu

I’ve been coming to Carlinville since I was a little guy and had never heard of Taylor‘s chili until about 10 or 15 years ago or so when I saw it on a national television show . I finally stopped in the last time I was there in January and bought some chili to go and a case to bring back to Colorado. I love it! I love the story and the history and the location in the historic town square. Two thumbs up! Great chili! Don’t ever change a thing.

Local 's recommendation for first-timers: Tell the waitress you want Butterbean with The best of both worlds the fabulous Butterbean soup with a large spoonful of the chili meat sauce added on top. The straight chili is very old school made with beef suet. Very tasty but not for everyone. Try a small bowl. Don 't be afraid to try the vegetable soup, made with finely diced vegetables in a hearty beef base. Wash down with old fashioned bottled root beer.

Best Chili in America?. Probably but I haven 't them all yet. This Chili is OUTSTANDING! Well worth the detour to Carlinville. Pay no attention to Lori 's greasy review. If you want butter beans they have a butter bean soup but the Chili should not be tainted with anything but salt free crackers and /or vinegar. Back in the old days the owner, and founders grandson, Ed Taylor would run you out if you ask for ketchup. The chili is plated in 2 stages, first the beans go in your bowl then the Quill the meat, and yes some of the tastiest grease you will ever have, goes on top.
