"We walked in and found the place empty of staff, although a few tables were occupied with diners. After about five minutes, a man came out and shouted at us to take a seat. When we tried to get his attention to check in via OpenTable, we had no luck. My husband expressed his concern about the poor service, and the server immediately approached him in a threatening manner, as if ready to become aggressive. We hadn’t said anything else and still never got seated. This was our first time leaving a restaurant and we felt unsafe for the first time in such an establishment. We will definitely not be returning."

Extremely slow service. One waitress and one chef for the entire restaurant. Some food arrived cold, one order was incorrect.

I was there for breakfast. Only person there at first. Music was on and enjoyed the atmosphere! Server was excellent. Food was great! Fruity pebble pancakes is the way to go!!

We arrived about 11am and had to wait for service. The mimosas were syrupy sweet, the shrimp and grits was surrounded by 1/4 cup of seasoned butter and the chicken and waffles lacked flavor. Would not visit again View menu

Our parched eggs were hard boiled and the eggs Benedict was subpar. They didn’t have the reservations we made but thankfully they were 100% empty so we were seated. Didn’t enjoy any of the food including the fruit pebbles pancakes.

Very quiet crowd. $18 bottles of champagne with good juices for mimosas and the service was great. Food and ambiance ok. I think it might be newer so it hasn’t caught on yet everyone did love the beignets with the sweet bacon on top

There were four of us in my party when we dined at the restaurant. Unfortunately, three out of our four orders were wrong. After we informed the server about the mistakes, it took approximately an hour and fifteen minutes for everyone’s food to finally arrive at the table.

I had high expectations for this brunch place, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to them. The service was lacking, and it took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, only for it to be cold and stale. They might want to reconsider their pricing, as what we received did not justify the cost. I won't be going back to this brunch spot.

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
