"Used to frequent Whip In pretty often about 7-8 years ago w/ some baseball teammates of mine after games. This was my first time back in many years, and I was looking forward to it. Came in after a Friday night baseball game just looking to grab some food to go since I was flying solo. I checked google to make sure they were still open, and to my delight, they were open til 11 pm. Got there at 9:35. Sat at the bar. Told the bartender that I was going to order some food to go, but would grab a beer while I waited. She poured me a beer while I checked the menu, which seemed to be the same as years prior. Saw what I wanted and was ready to order almost immediately, but the bartender had since disappeared. After a couple minutes, she came back, and I tried to get her attention, but she didn 't look in my direction. She then assisted the only other two patrons at the bar, so I waited patiently until I could get her attention. I finally did and told her what food I wanted. As I was ordering, she simply said, kitchen 's closed and walked away. Never saw her again. Hungry and confused, I just sat there and finished my beer. The patron sitting at the bar a few seats over from me then ordered some food (and got it) 5 minutes after me. It 's too bad that Whip In, like so many Austin staples, has seemingly plummeted in recent years. I was about to spend over $100 on food and beer to go. I was also going to bring 12-15 of my teammates there to drink and eat after our next game. Guess we 'll have to go somewhere else that wants our money instead. The 1 star is for the Whip In of many years ago.Edit: after reading a bunch of reviews, it seems like I actually dodged a bullet by the miserable bartender not taking my food order."

I've been coming to this restaurant for the past 10 years. The new layout is great, and the selection of beers is fantastic. The Indian food they serve tastes genuinely homemade.

This is my favorite place in Austin, the people here are so humble and genuine. I literally come here just so someone will be nice to me. The food, beer, wine, and atmosphere is just a plus.

I absolutely love this place! I used to take the Texas State University Bobcat Shuttle from here. It’s a laid-back, casual neighborhood bar with fantastic vegan options (and non-vegan dishes too— the lamb is excellent)!

For some reason, I was avoiding this place! What a mistake. Went last night and ordered the grilled chicken with cilantro lime curry sauce and basmati rice bowl. Our entire party enjoyed their meal and sitting outside on the patio was lovely. We will return. Indoors had nice music and a good vibe. View menu

Food was very good but we had a bad service experience. I think the person who took our order did not understand us, but they repeated our order back, so they should’ve brought us what we ordered. We were 4 our dishes took forever (even the bread samosas) worse they came 1 at a time. I joked we were eating in shifts.

The food here is exceptional, with a fantastic selection of beers. The servers are not only friendly but also bring a bit of personality to your experience. Don't miss out on Wine Wednesday! Be sure to arrive hungry and thirsty to enjoy the lovely patio and live music. I highly recommend the chicken masala and garlic naan—they're simply unbeatable!

The food is quite good, and there's a nice selection of beers. I also enjoy the atmosphere. However, the staff isn't very welcoming, and takeout orders often aren't ready on time. Additionally, the bike racks leave much to be desired. They're not securely anchored to the ground and are placed at the bottom of a steep slope, making them difficult to use. View menu

he ambiance is brilliant strong nods to the continencestore it once was from retro neon sign to the commercial refrigerators full of beer for take away. . The food brilliant several vegan choices . My flexitarian mates assure the CMT dims on par with ant east-end curry hut and yes this is a high compliment. Enough beer and ales for any taste. Servers are amazingly fast attentive. The parking easy . A first choice

The atmosphere here is fantastic, and they have an excellent selection of draft beers. I'm particularly fond of the samosas, which feature Indian fusion cuisine. This place is ideal for a solo outing on a rainy day. I also appreciate the outdoor patio and community tables for when friends come along. I can't help but wonder why I don't visit more often! Plus, I can conveniently pick up a bottle of wine or a six-pack from the grocery store before I leave. It's a win-win!
