"Ward Eight is a gem on Howard. Chef Chris pairs delicious dishes with the cocktails that the bar team magically concoctes. Simply, it's a laid-back vibe to chill and enjoy conversation with those you are with or the staff. No Tvs. No egos. Just good drinks, good tunes, delicious food and friendly faces. Don't hesitate to come and enjoy the experience."

""The food was incredibly bland. My 13-year-old ordered ramen, and it had no flavor at all. I tried the lunch special, but it was equally tasteless. The boba was watered down as well. To top it off, the waitress was rude and didn't say a word until it was time to bring the bill. There were also too many flies buzzing around, which made for a terrible experience overall. I would rate the food a 1 out of 5.""

"on Easter Sunday in the expectation of a quantity, but there were tables available and many employees. our server was super nice, got us the free Moimosa deal (with order of a deer) and even asked me if I wanted a second 5 minutes a day (as the deal ends at 12:00 a.m.). frittata and avocado toast were both delicious, mimosas were mostly champagne and a generous size, our server was great and the atmosphere is really nice. we had been once, right after the place opened, the service was only so and eating was good, but the menu was a bit expensive, but this second visit feels like they had gotten their step, the menu has expanded and has more price range, and that was both eating great."

"We have supported and enjoyed Blind Faith for years but the prices have gotten so high relative to the food served. My mediocre stuffed avocado at $19 with plain lettuce on the side left me unsatisfied, and the still very tasty Blind Faith salad at $17 which is 95% lettuce, overall gives me pause. With 2 drinks and one appetizer of Brussels sprouts our meal was over $80 before tip. The vibe is still, as always, friendly and inviting, and service good. At this price point I feel like I am mostly just offering my support to a local place, rather than getting a meal that I can’t wait to have again."

"Prairie Moon is a diamond in the rough for Evanston in every meaningful way. I have now been 3 or 4 times and have been wowed each time. The food on offer is very elevated for “bar food,” and (hopefully saying this doesn’t change this) is such unbelievably good value. The interior is a basement. It’s not going to blow you away with its modernity or luxury. If you go in with the expectation that you’re in a basement bar, though, you’ll leave with a resonant “where did I just go?” feeling in the best way. I’ve been with groups of people each time I’ve been from vastly different walks of life, and everyone finds something here, and thus far, is impressed by it. Serious compliments to the head chef or whomever curates this menu, because this is not standard bar fare for the quality. I am typically fairly critical of places I go (though I do not often leave bad reviews), but it’s hard to find a bad thing to say about Prairie Moon. To the restaurant — keep up the great work. To the would-be patrons — keep this high on your list."

"This was our first time to Trattoria Demi. Although smaller than we anticipated, the food was excellent. The lamb shank was amazing and huge. Portion size and quality were very fair for the price."

"Ordered pick-up for all of my extended family during this crisis. First off, they were able to separate orders for three different families according to each family and had all of the bags organized perfectly! How often do you just order for 1 family and have something missing from the pickup. Next, to help us limit contact all I had to do was pull-up next to the restaurant and call them to let them know I was there and they promptly walked outside and dropped all the orders off in my trunk. I didn't even have to get out of the car! The best part was then enjoying all of the food...everything was excellent. A great experience and extremely safe and convenient!"

"This was our first visit to Kansaku, and we were very pleased. The service was a bit slow, but that wasn't a problem because we had a lot of catching up to do. We had Sapporo Dark beer, edamame, and pickle to start. If you haven't had Japanese pickle, please! Give it a try. It is so yummy. We proceeded to order two rolls and some nigiri. Everything was very fresh and nicely presented. One roll we knew would be spicy, and the other we thought would not. However, it turned out they were both spicy. So read the menu carefully and ask your server."

"Hands down my favorite mom and pop homemade Italian food for going on 43 years! We've been a regular through all of the different locations and changes. We get very excited when we sit down and dig into their delicious Italian salad with the most out of the world creamy garlic dressing, their ever so tasty eggplant Parmesan, their spinach pie, their fabulous bread, their homemade green spinach noodles! I can go on and on. We now live in California but whenever we visit our hometown, we ALWAYS make a point of stopping at our beloved Dave's!"

"One employee was let go from the downtown location for time theft but is still employed at the Evanston branch. Additionally, the restaurant manager in Evanston was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a female coworker, who was the assistant manager. When their relationship ended, she was terminated. Overall, the management and ownership of this restaurant are unprofessional and a real disappointment."

"I have been going here for about 10 years and I love this place. When I go out for Thai food I always get pad see eiw, so I’ve had many different kinds of pad see eiw from many different restaurants, but Pinto, by far, has the best pad see eiw I’ve ever eaten. It has a lot of flavor and sauce so the dish is not dry. I’ve also noticed that after Covid, many places that used to have tasty pad see eiw now has bland pad see eiw. I went here the other day for pickup for the first time after Covid, and it was more delicious than I remember. Not only was the food delicious, I had a fast and easy pick up experience. Would 100% recommend."

"Food was delicious. I've been to Thailand twice. We love ordering Thai food. And this is my first time having what I would call elevated Thai food. And it was an all-around wonderful experience. There were multiple dishes we would 100% order again. And we all talked about who got to lick the plate afterwards. They also make an off menu item called Khao soi. Which is a traditional dish served only in Chiang mai. Very few Thai places make it. And even fewer know how to make it right. This was a 100% outstanding item. Also great were non-alcoholic cocktails. Even more outstanding was the service amd staff. Both front of house and back of house or amazing welcoming warming informative knowledgeable and spot on with their service, energy, execution. Specifically front of house manager Marc, back of house manager Rush and restaurant support Lalo. Top to bottom amazing experience and amazing people and we 100% will be going back"

"I am from South Carolina and this was my second visit to The Barn while visiting the area. My wife and I were here for our 51st wedding anniversery in August and I was so impressed I had to go back before she leaves Chicago in December. The Food is simply outstanding. I had the filet that was perfectly cooked and so tender I believe I could have cut it with a fork. My wife had the ribeye and she said it was also cooked to perfection. In my 71 years, I don't think I have ever had a better steak. While I don't normally find mashed potatoes with a steak, the german marrow butterball potatoes are a perfect compliment to the steak. Finally, the chocolate velvet cake was rich, decadent and absolutely delicious. The staff and service are wonderful, very friendly, helpful and attentive without hovering. The Barn is not cheap eats but absolutley worth every dollar I spent both times."

"My wife wanted some vegetarian mousaka for mothers day so I called in and placed a pick up order. I was told 15-20 minutes for the food to be ready, and it took me over 25 minutes to get there. Upon arriving I was told my order wasnt ready, and one of the guys at the counter was bothering me trying to get me to buy one of their over priced $6 macro brews while I waited. I paid for my order and waited at the counter. Ultimately my order wouldn 't be ready until 45 minutes after I placed it. While standing at the counter I had the displeasure to watch my wife 's mousaka be prepared. It was from a frozen tray of food not even prepared there, but rather at Athenian Foods in Melrose Park. And it was re-heated on the same grill they were using to cook burgers, meaning this previously vegetarian dish was no longer vegetarian. I think it is safe to assume any even minorly complex dish which is more involved than heating something on a griddle, is purchased from a food service company like Sysco and is just re-heated to order. When I got home I began unpack the char-burger I ordered. Neither the burger nor bun was charred, nor do I think they have an actual grill to do so. And it was the saddest burger i 've ever seen, worse than even McDonalds fare, just a thin patty of beef in a crushed bun. The bottom bun was also sopping wet due to the white wine they coat their greek fries in. Most curious of all is that I was forced to pay $44 and some change for this Sysco-tier slop. I have no clue how they arrived at this total, as according to their menu prices the Mousaka was $15, the burger was $14, a half order of fries was $4.50 and the minestrone soup was $4, or $37.50 in total. With tax I should have only been charged $41.34 assuming 10.25% sales tax. This business is cash only, and I can only assume it is because they have been kicked off their payment processor due to excessive chargebacks for habitually over billing customers. So in summary if you want poorly re-heated frozen food or the saddest burgers imaginable, that take twice as long as quoted to be ready, from a restaurant who lies about whether or not dishes conform to your dietary restrictions, go to Cross-Rhodes, if not i 'm sure Yelp can help you find a far better Greek diner that wont steal your money."

"A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Quality food and top notch service were our experience. The mushroom soup was perfectly balanced with flavors. The beef, chicken, and vegetable, all cooked tender and juicy. The salad and avocado were served fresh and unblemished. For those who consume alcoholic beverages I highly recommend the Fuki Plum Sake, as was recommended to me by our server. Smooth, fragrant, sweet, and a wonderful pairing to the food we ordered... It would also make for a satisfying dessert just on its own. When passing through Evanston we will definitely eat here again. I can't wait to try other menu items!Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options available.Kid-friendliness: Kid menu options available.Parking: Free standard parking in the building's own lot. Wheelchair/Accessable parking is also available.Wheelchair accessibility: Available."

"What a pleasant surprise! This restaurant is located beneath the train tracks in downtown Evanston, and it boasts a lovely dining room with exceptional food and fantastic service. We started our meal with a beet salad and a goat cheese tart drizzled with balsamic, both of which were delicious and generously portioned for the three of us to share. Our main courses consisted of halibut, pork tenderloin, and the Chilean Sea Bass special, all of which received high praise from us. To top off the night, we ordered a decadent chocolate flourless cake with vanilla ice cream and Grand Marnier chocolate sauce for the birthday celebrant. It was indulgent and definitely worth the calories. We will certainly be returning to this gem of a restaurant!"

"I visited Sea Ranch yesterday around 5 pm for a bowl of Beef Udon soup and it came with a freshly made California roll. Both were excellent and fresh. The broth had a home made taste to it which is a departure from most restaurant Udon offerings. I sipped it all after I polished off the noodles and beef. The place was very busy when I arrived and they were slow to acknowledge me and take my order. That said, the food was delivered to my table within 10 minutes of ordering. I stop in at Sea Ranch when I need authentic Japanese ingredients in a pinch, otherwise I frequent Hmart for greater variety and more competitive prices."

"Gigio’s has always been a favorite for our office lunch, as it's conveniently located just down the street. The quality, pricing, and speed of service are all exceptional. I recently decided to try their gluten-free crust pizza, and I was really impressed! The crust was perfectly crispy, and I enjoyed the sausage and pappadew peppers just like the regular pizza by the slice. However, you have to order a whole pizza, which is quite filling; next time, I’ll aim for just two slices and save the rest for later. Plus, their online ordering system goes directly to the restaurant, so they don't lose money on third-party app fees. I’d definitely give it a 10/10 and highly recommend it!"

"Excellent about the details. Roommate and I are industry workers in the City so take that as it is, we are very forgiving but harder to impress I think. Portions are shockingly large and the food is top-notch. Simple and short menu, everything 's executed perfectly. Pricing is super reasonable, we shared 3 first/app courses, a pasta, and a dessert, and got a very tasty and well-priced bottle of wine (very reasonable, about a 2x markup from retail) and two afterdinner pours (1 fernet, 1 port), tab $205 before tip. Bread was amazing, and I took solid pasta leftovers home to our other roomie. We left pretty stuffed. Octopus with beans was absolutely delicious, smoky and earthy and tomato-y. Carpaccio was salty and rich and spicy from the arugula. Gnocchi was creamy and fresh with the peas green beans, could have used a tad more salt acid but not enough to make it unlovable. Pappardelle was perfectly executed and sticky toffee pudding was phenomenal. Space is perfect. So many nice touches that are so subtle to help everything go smoothly. Comfortable, casual-fancy, not too loud, very ... easy. Service was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We felt welcomed and cared for, and the food was just divine. Qotn: this pasta......it tastes like...home. like home feels. Like grandma, and comfort, and happiness. Yep...that 's it."

"I hate to do this because the product actually taste great and the guy at cashier was very nice, but there were way too many mistakes. I excused the mayo that I specially asked not to be placed on my sandwich. I had to toss it. I excused not receiving the utensils I requested. I even excused the chocolate chip cookie I received after asking for oatmeal raisin. I CAN'T excuse aluminum packaging bits in each sip of my smoothie. I had to toss it. It appears that help is scarce at this establishment, and as a former food and bev worker, I understand. Had these issues never occurred, six out of five stars. I feel the product here is great."
