"I 'm a native Mississippian and have dined at many a soul food restaurant and was raised on soul food meals cooked by family. The food served here is delicious and served with a flair I wasn 't expecting. Almost every dish had a sprinkling of edible gold dust on it, even the cheesy grits. The decor is chic and upscale compared to the funky environment I usually see. It was as if this soul food restaurant has a VIP room. The only thing missing was a disco ball. Normally, I would suspect that the use of gold dust on food was done to glamorize a less than glamorous tasting dish. That was not the case here. Without the glitter I would have been just as pleased. The squash dressing, the honey butter cornbread, the black eyed peas, the cheesy grits, the cornmeal crusted thin catfish filets and shrimp, the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and even the french fries were well seasoned and properly prepared. If we weren 't so full we would have tried a few more tastes. We 'll have to return again soon and we definitely will. The servers were very pleasant and attentive. The prices are very reasonable. A sho 'nuf celebrity experience."
