"As someone on the autism spectrum, I thrive on routine and prefer familiar places where I can expect decent to excellent service. So, trying something new takes a lot of courage for me. After a 12-hour fast for a physical at the Healthquest Office directly across the street, I was definitely ready for a meal. When I stepped inside the diner, I was immediately impressed.
One great feature is the electric outlets at many tables, which allow those of us who work on-the-go to manage our responsibilities while enjoying a meal. Plus, the WiFi is top-notch, with the login details conveniently printed on the placemat.
I decided to treat myself to steak and eggs, the priciest item on the breakfast menu, but at under $20, it was more reasonable compared to other places. The service was exceptional, and my server Dalia made me feel valued and welcomed.
In my view, a restaurant review should weigh service and ambiance equally with the quality of the food. I can’t tolerate establishments where the staff acts like they’re doing me a favor by serving me or ignores me when I try to get their attention. I believe we shouldn’t have to settle for bad treatment, especially when we’re paying for it!
I’m definitely planning to return to Short Hills Diner and make it a regular stop when I visit my family in Dutchess County. Attached is a photo of me with my wonderful server, Dalia!"
